Current T-Mag article featuring JJFigure..

Excellent articles! Good information, a few laughs, and lots of inspiration. Both of you ladies look great!

And T-mag looks like something I'm going to have to read more of.

When I work out, I'm pretty much the only serious woman in there, too. I'm not sure who looks at me more strangely...the men I'm working out with, or the ladies on the other side of the aisle on the Nautilus circuit. (BTW, I have no trouble making my "mean" face when I'm doing an intense set...nothing serene about it...though the only noise I make is my exhaling.)

I'm also curious about the alleged thyroid suppression of soy protein. As a vegetarian, I get a lot of my protein from soy (also dairy, eggs, & nuts & whole grains & legumes). Do I need to be concerned about this?

Heh...that man in the pic is actually Tod Becraft. Our fearless leader in all things strongman. I have pics of my bf in my gallery. And yeah, I got him to FINALLY begin postin' around these here parts. 'Bout damn time, too :)

As for post-workout shakes, I still drink it even after a late session. I need to. Now, if it's a issue with you; you can do what I sometimes do. Which is drink half of my post workout during and the remaining half after. My post workout is either a mixture of dextrose/malto dextrin mixed in with protein or the pre-made "Surge". BUT if you're able to fit in a solid meal afterwards, that's actually a good thing. So I think you're doin' okay.

The issue of soy should be more of a concern for men than women. But I still really limit my soy intake. I actually don't like the taste of soy milk - primary reason I don't drink it.

Regarding soy: Isoflavines...that's what the debate is about right? Gotta do some digging on this one. I guess I'm one of those freaks who actually prefers the taste of soy milk to regular milk!

Anyhow, thanks for the input JJ & Slinky about the post workout shakes. I think I'll add them back in the equation again...a girl has gotta get her protein!
