to me, creatine is creatine, what do u guys think? there's not ONE brand that is far more superior than the other tho right?

BTW, thanx scaggs for the answer =) but what i mean when i take it with protein is like mix milk and protein together, down that and then drink a cup of grapefruit to get the proper carbs in after workout. you think that would help with absorption. I would NEVER take vanilla protein and mix it with grapefruit juice. BLECH!

Well i've never taken protein with Grapefruit juice. It would prally taste pretty bad but it may help the protein absorbtion. I don't know. I would think it would help. I know it works with creatine and drugs. The effervescent creatine I think are the best and you should be fine with just that alone as long as they dont require you to mix into a juice. If they do, put them in Grapefruit juice.

For a while I was using this product from PBL effervescent creating plus.
1. 5 grams Creating Monohydrage
2. 5 gram glutamine
3. 1 gram taurine
4. 100mg of ALA
5. Sodium , potassium and magnesium bicarbonates (which are used to reduce gas in the stomach)

it last longer than 30 servings also

But I never put it in grapefruit juice....

I would just like to point out why this might not work so well. 5 grams of creatine, thats good for one dose, this is the max amount your body can absorb in one sitting, the rest you piss out. 5 grams of glutamine... this is where it gets bad. Glutamine is an amino acid, but so is creatine ( YES ). So your body is trying to absorb both of them at the same time, this is a bad thing. Not only will you piss the excess out, but there is a possibility that neither is absorbed. 1 gram of taurine, I havent really read much about its effects, but its good to have in there. Also, its kind of a cat steroid (So ive heard). 100 MG of ALA(alpha lipoic acid)... this is bad in a powder form. It degrades in air, water, light, whatever, it must be in a capsule. (I said this in a previous post). Also the fact there are only 100 MG of it, you should really be taking it in 200 MG doses, three times a day, after you eat. The rest, are as you say. Except sodium, it also ( I BELIEVE ) acts as a transporter.

lets discuss your point here. I WAS under the understanding the creatine and glutamine use the same cell receptor. Glutamine has many functions in the body with the exception of being the number one amino acid in your muscle. The metabolic pathway of creatine is listed below

http://web.indstate.edu/thcme/mwking/aminoacidderivatives.html

Glutamine isn't an amino acid derivative , it a real amino. As the pathway explain , create has to be converted to creatine phosphate before muscles can use it as an energy store. Basically the idea that creatine is am amino acid is an over simplification. But both are used in cell volumizing activity, true. The question that I have is , where do you get the 5 gram number from ? What that would mean is that creating loading is total BS.

Yes, it is the max your body can absorb in one sitting, not an entire day.

The subject of taking creatine and glutamine at one time (within the same 20 minutes)seems to be controversial. It seems to me both depend on sodium as a transporter. So for now, before there is more evidence that they dont mess with each others absorbsion, I will take them half an hour apart.

and sorry to the original poster for going off on a tangeant.

Tastes pretty good with vanilla. If you like grapefruit juice, that is.

Well i like grapefruit juice and there is something about grapefruit juice that makes your body absorb more of anything you put in the stomach. If you take an aspirin pill with grape juice and one with grapefruit juice, the day you took it with grapefruit will show more of the aspirin in your system then the day you took it with the grapejuice. Sometimes Doctors will even prescripe med's and tell you DONT take it with grapefruit juice becuase it will be to strong of a dose or tell you to take it with the juice. Its actually a know fact.

1) Grapefruit juice stimulates the pancreas to produce acid buffering enzymes.

2) Effervescent creatine, creatine serum and all other magic creatine potions are B.S. weather you like to believe it or not. Pure odorless, tasteless creatine monohydrate works best. It's what/how much/how/when you take with it that counts.

3) Loading stages are a personal thing. I personally load 6 days with a 50/50 mix of grape and grapefruit juice + Chromium Picolatine and R-ALA and cycle for 8 weeks - long-term creatine effects have not yet been established.

I've done the loading stage thing, and you see faster results, you gain size and your muscles look fuller, but its temporary, since its only water weight. Anyway I've tried both, and I've decided that the loading stage is a waste of money, and could put you at greater risk for health problems. I know that creatine hasn't been proven to be harmful yet, but we don't know that its 100 % safe yet either. I take creatine post workout, but I no longer take it multiple times a day.

Hey there first time at the boards and I didn't want to start a new thread cause i know how much that annoys people asking the same questions over and over. I did a little reading for about 2 hours trying to find out the exact info on creatine but I'm just a little confused with all the shit out there.

I just bought GNC creatine monohydrate 300g off my friend for $10 bux. He got it for his birthday and he didn't want it.

So my question is this. Should i be taking 10g of creatine per day with no loading stage? 5 grams in the morning when i wake up and 5 grams before my workout?

Thanks in Advance!
