Confused...! FILTERS, Filtering & STERILIZATIION

filtering and sterilization..

ok i recently went out to buy some gear so i can filter and sterilize me Test e cause of fear of contamination.

i couldnt get my hands on any whatman's filters tho i did come across a few local brand filters.

i purchased A rangd of different type filters because i didnt no which one i need to use?
also i couldnt get most of them in a sterile form either , however they r brand new.. does that matter?
  • 0.22UM syringe filters PTFE NON-STERILE
  • 0.22UM syringe filters Nylone NON-STERILE
  • 0.45UM syringe filters PTFE NON-STERILE
  • 0.45um syringe filters Nylone NON-STERILE
  • 0.45um syringe filters PVDF STERILE
the only sterile filter i could get was The PVDF(with glass fiber, Gama sterile) .45um

my question is... AM i better off usen the sterile PVDF filter .45um?? or go with one of the other filters a got??? and if so which one???

also should i bake it to b 110%?
if so what temp?? and how long?? degrees C

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

thanks for your time broz!

Take them back and order whatman sterile filters from gpz services . Google them

Are they autoclavable? Do you have a pressurecooker? If both answers are yes, you could sterilize them yourself. 15 minutes at 15psi, 121 degrees centigrade.
But I have a feeling they might melt and/or warp at that temp unless they are specifically designed to be autoclavable.
Probably Hayez's suggestion is the better bet. gpz services.

Oh I see you are in aus. Can you get 70% isopropanol? Run some of that through the filters you want to sterilize, and then clear as much of it out as you can, and let it dry. If you are brewing, and you have benzyl alcohol, I would do the 70% isopropanol, and then push a bit of benzyl alcohol through it just before you use it .
Sorry, best I could come up with, not knowing what chems and/or equipment you have access to.

hmm i do have 2 STERILE PVDF Filters. as shown above?? i cant use gpz sevices they dont ship to AUS and im finding it very hard to get my hand on some whatmans....

hmm ok but now im a bit parra bout em the hole reason for doing this is to make sure my gear is at its safest... but i guess sthe sterile .45 would work jst as good as a whatman .45 sterile filter... ill continue to try source for the whatman but if i cant get my hands on any the PVDF might have to do... ??

See if researchsupply (google them) ships to aus. I'm not familiar with the filters you have. But if there sterile then your ok. But you filter thru a non sterile filter you may keep out debris but that's it. I'd be more concerned about bacteria.
A .45 is ok , a .20 is better but you will be fine. If your just transfering gear from non sterile vials (which I'm guessing because of how ya got it into aus) .45 will be fine.

yer thats kinda why im doing it...
do u think ther is a need to bake or heat the gear...??
if u think it would be in my intress to do so can u give me a step by step method on how to do it Please..??

its my first time with JabN(Injecting) and i want to b safe and take percautions now rather then feel fukD and sorry later..lol

Cheers!

no need to bake or heat....
depending ont he amoutn of gear you are transfering i would get a large 50ml sterile vial to transfer to
say if you are transfering
deca and test
instead of putting them back into 10ml vials id combine each into a big one (seperate vials)

take sterile vial put a 18gauge needle in top to let air out and leave there..

take 10ml syringe attach syringe filter to it, attach 18 gauge needle to it...

put that in the top of vial and keep it in there...pull out the plunger and set it on the syringe filter wrapper..

take another 10ml syringe with a 18 gauge needle and draw out all the oil from the vial and fill the open syringe barrel..

replace the plunger and push to filter the oil in..

a .45 will filter a ton of gear so just keep repaeating until your finsihed

theres no reason to bake it...the syringe filter is removing anything that would be in there, thats why the sterile one are important to buy
