That is so unfair! I graduated top of my class. I had a 4.0. I am damn good at my job. I never leave until everything is done properly. I check once, twice and maybe even three times. My door is always open if there is a problem and I am very approachable. The truth is the economy sucks. If you weren't in IT before everything went downhill, chances are yes, you are an inexperienced person. The money they are paying us is so sad, that only people fresh out of school will accept it.

Its because IT people are basically mechanics. It doesnt take any great skill or talent, you dont need a full liberal arts education, you just have to know the tech stuff. I know high school dropouts who are in IT.

You are right and wrong. Some people are mechanics, as you say. These are the hardware people. Most only get A+ certified and call it a day. There is a whole other world out there. And yes, you do need atleast a 4 year degree for some positions.

Well yeah, but you dont se to many mechanical engineers getting laid off, do you? IT as a science isnt that prohibitive so theres too many people in it for the demand.
