I know ppl talk about safemail and others but I just came across a post about another server ... hushmail.. turning emails over, check it out.. www. wired. com/threatlevel/2007/11/encrypted-e-mai/ So is there anyone that knows what they are talking about and knows if safemail or any other server is actually SAFE? why do these companies even store email data.. is there a company that does not store data either in a database or in the clouds?

I just copied and pasted this from another post: Hushmail (which also owns cyber-rights) backstabbed hundreds of its users by allowing LE to use an undisclosed "back door" into accounts, and turned over 12 CD's of messages before Raw Deal. This does not affect me personally because I've never bought, sold, or used any gear whatsoever, but I had friends on other forums who I lost to raw deal. If you use either of these, you are NOT using a safe form of email. Hushmail and GreenDot payment systems are the two biggest contributors to the Raw Deal issue. Safe-mail is so UNsafe I wonder why people use it. Hell, they don't even hide this--right when you sign up, they put it in the TOS that they will access your accounts without your knowledge at any time, in order to assist LE. So in what dreamworld is that any safer that hotmail?? END So that sounds like safemail is out too, I dont have either of these or any other like these and Im not sure if this is the right forum for this but just looking out for my bros!

SOme bitch ask for a computer genius?

Fuck off spammer

That article is from 2007. Everybody has known not to use either of those freebie secured email servers for a long time. their terms state that they will hand anything and everything over to the pigs. Find a paid non-US based secure server.

computer "genuises" and tech geeks have nothing to do with safe mail.... we can fix your PC or design your website, finding secure mail is as easy as googling for fuck's sake.

well nobody told me not to use effin hushmail

now I can't use safe mail either?

Find a pop3s service such as lavabit (and pull all email off the server), use spotflux vpn and encrypt your hard drive. Even the paid services will such as hush will submit data to the police with or without a search warrant

This, basically. I use a VPN all the time so that on the small chance something were to happen, it looks like I'm just some gook in Korea.

I don't know why anybody who buys a small amount of gear for themselves would even care. Don't fool yourself. You're not important, and nobody will ever come after you. You are a fucking nobody.

Take this for what it's worth...

The interesting things here is as soon as I typed this , I started receiving 4 and 5 of the same email at lavabit. There are probably some FED/NARC lurkers reading these posts.

*edit*
The thread hasn't posted since this thread either
I don't believe in coincidences....

But another explanation for the duplicates is the "leave mail on server" option. I do this co I can read my mail on my phone. If I were trying to hide stuff , I wouldn't do this. Turn this off and only access the email from the encrypted computer. And I would disguise my username to be different from my username in other places. Also try to use a oversease service that doesn't respond to these warrantless search requests.
It is a fact that many of these US email services HAVE NOT been asking for warrants before providing information to law enforcement

So you can believe that "I'm a small buyer so LEO's won't go after you" crap all you want. The facts are in the link above.

They store it cause NSA runs the communication in this country. Everything Is recorded, tracked and stored.

I'd think the big government supporters here in C&C would hope they'd use all the electronic surveillance tools available to make sure we're all properly protected.
