Computer dies after big Windows update.........

test boy ii

New member
Had not done an update in a long time. I finally broke down and did the big one. Within a couple hours, my computer started distinctly clicking. A mechanical clicking close to the PCMCIA slot...it seemed like. Then it quit.

Got a message that there was a real major error and I needed to reinstall the System Recovery discs that came with it. I did that.

It worked great for 1-2 hours then the clicking started again.

I figure it is probably a coincidence.

That disk was on it's last leg with just a few more read/writes before it bit the dust. The update gave it a heart attack.

It was Microsofts evil plan to destroy theri own customer base by systematically frying their computers.

LOL. Sounds like your hard drive died. ERun a large magnet over it.. fix it right up.

Great plan.

Just thought it interesting that it went tits up so soon after update.
Now it doesn't even really work. Boots up and calls it a day.

Well test boy keep this in mind

When you were doing that update your hard drive was thrashing around like Jenna Jameson on a gram of test.

Espcially if you had less hard drive space causing your swap file to page like mad.

(I design OS builds for a large utility company)

Thanks bro...explains everything clearly.

you should build your own computer next time around Test boy.

RAID 5 array of harddrives, built in redundancy.

doubt you'd run into problems like this ever again.
