Big Nate is right on, NASM has the fundamentals for success and expertise, and a great model to start out with (OPT). I was happy to see the vast amount of useful information I gained from the CPT course. I have been in the fitness industry for over a decade but over seas, I needed and wanted to update my certification once back in the US. NASM did much more then fill the void, but added many tools and knowledge. Personal Training is an ongoing adventure, in this industry you have to keep up, and CEC'S are a great way, so look down the road and see which certifying agencies will be around, and who will you most likely enjoy working with.
You mentioned a drawback of a focus on core stability and rehab, it might not be your choice for now. But with our aging population it is without doubt what the vast majority of personal training clients will be after. Even the younger healthy fit, clients I see tend to need to correct some form of muscle imbalances, so I wouldn't write it off as a downside, just my 2 cents
Hope that helps, good luck
