combine the mentzer H.I.T. and the Arnold overtraining together?

Just do 3-6 sets to concentric failure per muscle group and you should have no problem growing. 1 set per muscle is not enough and arnold style is way overtraining. It makes no sense to do HIT one week and Arnold style the other.

Oh and this should really be on the training board.

I used to train that way and made GReAT progress. The only exception would be to do 8 sets for back consisting of 6 sets from rows and pulldown variations and 2 sets for lower back.

Yeah I know what you mean. I guess I've only put on over 40 lbs naturally in the past 9 months, I should really reconsider my training

Didn't you just start training only 9 months ago? I put on over 40lbs my first year and I didnt know my ass from a hole in the ground when it came to training.

Anyone else train the mentzer way? Just curious if you made progress with. I just bought his book today in B. Dalton and already read about half of it. For some reason though I can't get past just 1 set of 2exercises per bodypart a week. I feel like a dick to argur the guy was Mr. olympia and Universe, maybe I'll just do what lil chief said and try the Mentzer way just add in a set or two more per bodypart, instead of 1-2 sets for 6-10 reps I'll do 3 or maybe 4 and that still only 6-8 set per bodypart which is still well below what most people do which is 12-20 sets.

I always train on a modified metzer routine..

3 days per week.
Chest, delts, tris, abs

Back, bis, abs

legs

I do 2-4 exercises 2 sets each...

i also incorporate some POF exercise selcetion...
eg

Back workout

Deadlifts pyramid to 1 set of 4
front pulldowns 2 X 6-8
curl grip pulldown 2 X 6-8
T-bar rows 2 x 6-8
rear delt machine 2 x 6-8
DB Shrugs 2 X 6-8
Total sets 11 sets
However sometimes I may just do 1 set, but im ona cycle and have the energy to do more

DB curls 2 X 6-8
concentration curl 2 X 6-8
sometimes I will add in incline curls to get a stretch but thats only sometimes to give it a "shock" effect.
