CKD diet and workout for a newbie!!

Ok, so my fiance and I have decided to do the ckd diet. I guess what I need to know is if this is going to be the best for me and if so what type of workout I need to do? I am not trying to body build, just trying to loose a lot of weight and tone up.

I am 4 1/2 months post-pardum(sp??) I'm 23 and weigh 178. I'm 5' 5.5" (i'm taking all the height I can get! LOL) My pre-pregnancy weight was 172. I think we calculated my BF at about 30-32%! I do Low to Moderate intensity cardio at least 3 times a week. For at least 1/2hr. My heartrate gets to a max of 182. And started eating very healthy, low fat foods. I just started all of this about 2 months ago and have lost about 10-15lbs. We were eating LOTS of fast food!

I just want the quickest way to loose the weight. I'm tired of being a fatty fatty 2x4! LOL A little more history. About 6 years ago I was bigger than I am now, I finally dropped down to about 130lbs. But I wasn't healthy. Then I moved, got a very sedentary job and am up to 178. So my goal is to hopefully get down to 135 or so by (hopefully) the beginning of summer.

Can any of you recommend the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to reading all of your answers!

Nicole

Well, you can lose a lot of weight quickly on a CKD - the issue is whether or not you can keep it off. One issue with CKD diets - especially if you do them long term - is the tendency to binge. It's a very restrictive diet, and the minute you eat carbs, it's hard to stop. In other words, you have to be in the right mental place to be successful on a CKD diet.

Basically, to meet your goal of leaning out by summer, you need to do a bodybuilding diet cycle - 12-16 weeks of very restrictive eating; on a CKD that means high protein and fat, and very low carbs with the occasional clean carb load day (by clean, I mean low GI, not high GI). No alcohol, no sugar, no bread, no pasta, etc. Are you really up for that? It's pretty intense.

Another alternative for you is to follow Spatt's cutting diet - it includes some carb intake, albeit good, clean carbs - so you're less likely to go nuts on the diet. It also allows for a little more variety in your diet, so you won't get as bored as quickly.

ive been on a ckd for about 2 months and have had good results. My carb-up days have included hi gi carbs, but i usually cut them out half way through the day and swap to low gi.

The only problem I have with the ckd is I dont want to stop. Its very controlling..and especailly if you see results, you want to stay that way...so coming off it is a challenge, from my POV.
