Cheesecake and Puttinbuttin's visit

bigguns15

New member
They came to visit and train this weekend. We had such a great time! They did their maxes yesterday and got some new PRs :) I'll let them post up their actual numbers. Pwr_machine and I thought they did awesome! Cheesecake even survived some of the tightest knee wraps known to man.

We worked out, we swained, we laughed, and we had an all around great time with them!

Thanks Cheesecake and Puttinbuttin for coming down. It was a pleasure having you guys :)

Oh man did we have a good time. Words cannot express how wonderful pwr_machine and bigguns are.

I'm working on editing some videos from this weekend now.

I'll give a full report, including videos, when I finish.

Thanks so much you guys. We really can't thank you enough for all that you did for us.

I hear you.

I wanted to get 250 squat, 200 bench, and 315 deadlift.

Squat:
bigguns wrapped my knees lightly and I blew 250 out of the water. She wrapped them a little tighter and I got 265 easily. Then pwr_machine wrapped my knees extremely tight and I got 280, though I didn't quite go deep enough. Finally, pwr_machine put me through the worst pain of my life with his last knee wrap, and I squatted 290.
Worst pain of my life

My game face before the 290:
IM001238.JPG

265x1, 280x1, 290x1 So, I ended up with 40lb more than my goal.

Here's what the back of my knees looked like after I took the wraps off:
IM001241.JPG

Bench:
After warming up, I attempted 205 and missed. Then, I dropped the weight to 200 and got it. Finally, I attempted the 205 again, and again I missed.
200x1 So, I reached my goal.

Deadlift:
315 went up fairly easily. So, I moved up to 345, which I got. Next I moved up to 365 and couldn't move it off the floor. I attempted it a second time and couldn't lock it out.

315x1, 345x1 So, I ended up with 30 over my goal. I should have gotten that 365.

puttinbuttin asked me how I felt about my lifts afterwards. I told her that I wasn't satisfied. The thing is, I doubt I ever will be.

I wanted more on the squat, I wanted 205 on the bench so bad I could taste it, and I wanted 365 deadlift so bad it hurt.

If it weren't for the support of puttinbuttin, pwr_machine, and bigguns, I'm not sure I would have done that well. And without all of the help and tips from pwr_machine and bigguns, I know I wouldn't have done that well, especially on squat.

Now, for the rest of the weekend. I really had an amazing time. bigguns and pwr_machine are absolutely wonderful people. They made us feel at home, they cooked us some serious food, they made us laugh, they yelled for us and encouraged and helped us in the gym.

I can't wait to get to hang out and lift with them again. They both can put away some food and they both push around a whole lot of weight in the gym. I watched bigguns do a set of six squats with 5lb less than my max, and I watched pwr_machine do a set of twenty bench with 50lb more than my max. Watching them lift was truly inspirational.

I really can't say enough about you guys. You're just great people.

Satisfaction kills all the progress. Remember that

LOL.

You like my yelling, huh?

I knew I was bad, but I sure make some funny noises when the weight gets heavy. I especially like the bench video. I sound like a cross between Pee Wee and Jean Claude. :)

I am so proud of both you guys! You work hard, and I can see that in your lifts. You have a lot of heart and dedication and potential. I'm just glad I was able to watch you surpass your expectations this time :) There will be much more to come!

You guys did much more than just watch.

I think it was a combination of the rum cake and knee wraps that helped. :)

It was a pleasure putting you through the worst pain of your life. :D I mean, it was a pleasure meeting the both of you. We had a great time watching you guys lift and being able to share a few pointers. Not only did you survive my knee wraps, but you guys survived my sarcastic humor. A job well done all around. Keep training hard!

You know, I think I remember you smiling as I was sitting there cringing in pain.

It was well worth it though.

You're a funny guy. Jamie said that you and I have very similar senses of humor, which is probably why we laughed so much this weekend.

Thanks man.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how I should have gotten more on all of the lifts.

I have a looooooong way to go.

If you yell louder than that, then you are doing some serious yelling.

I yell so loud that I lost my voice after lifting.

I forgot to mention that on the day that we maxed I weighed 271. I was 276 the next day.

With an 835 total / 271 = 3.08 coefficient.

Great work, those were some nice numbers. Never be satisfied and never quit working for your goals.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Well we all have to start somewhere and you can't get into the big weight by being satisfied with the small ones. It wasn't very long ago that I was doing quite a bit less than you are. Just keep the drive and when you are my age you'll be light years ahead of me with the resources you have.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I cannot express how much fun we had with pwr_machine and bigguns......it was just awesome! Cheesecake and I learned so much. We just had the best time. You guys are awesome people.

I have vids I want to post: Overall I made PRs in everything I attempted:

Squat 165x1 squat 165

Bench 95x1 (This vid is actually me doing 85 lbs, I haven't downloaded our vid of 95 yet) bench 85

My deadlift is what I'm so proud of.....200 lbs.....
deadlift 200

The form in my squat was before pwr_machine got ahold of me....if you could see it now there is a HUGE difference!!!

Like Cheesecake said, we both have a long way to go but we have to start somewhere and I think these numbers are a great starting point!

Great Job, both of you!

Chad, you've not even scratched the surface of your potential.

HMMM, Cheesecake + Rumcake = Beefcake.

PuttinButtin, way to go, Girl!

Keep pushin' & pullin!:)

Good job everyone...only a little more technique work...and much bigger numbers are soon to come...
