Do you have a cheat meal once a week, a cheat meal 2 times a week, a cheat day, or never cheat?

Also when you cheat are your vices carbs or fat?

I cheat on about 1 meal about 1 a week or less. I don't plan for it when it happens its always supper and always something healthy that tastes great. Such as Brown Rice w/ Chicken. I cheat by eating way more than I should throwing off my calorie count for the day I try to off set it some by slimming down my later meal proportions. Being that I normally fall asleep around 4am or later, and eat supper at 6pm, I have plenty of time to burnt the carbs up too and plenty of meals left to attempt to offset my gluttony.

I have a whole cheat day. Although I know I shouldnt have a cheat day, I really find it hard to go out and bring my tuna with me, so I just cheat the whole day.
My vices are icecream (carbs and fat) and fast food.
How bad can it get ? :(

I have a cheat meal.....usually beer.....but I try and have a steak with it...but when the drinking goes on for a longer time period....its just empty carb calories:(

i have a cheat meal after eating clean for about 3-4 weeks...usually burger king or mcdonalds clear their entrance and treat me w/ the utmost respect...knowing that i'll be wasting alot of $$$'s...hehehe

ps:if my results are satisfactory,as far as cutting is concerned,i will add a DQ blizzard to the menu...:)

LOL AGENT SHAGWELL, sorry I made an addition to your poll...lol it's worth the laugh :D

Cheat day on Saturday and Sunday.

Vices: pizza, sweet n sour shrimp from a chinese joint, italian food dinners, mexican foods, and most likely some adult beverages on Saturday night.

Monday thru Friday: tuna, chicken brest, turkey breast, turkey burger, steak, fish, celery, protein powder in skim, egg whites, bacon, bannana, spinach, salad.

One cheat meal a week, usualyy when it's socially involved at aeither a restaurant or with frineds having a takeaway.

Usually chinese, or Indian or eating out, but always with booze!!:xeye: But I have to keep it under control or I;ll feel sick and get the shits the next day (sorry to be blunt, but YOU all know what I'm talking about).

S:D

I might eat a hamburger or a pizza. But only high quality hamburger or a pizza. Very fresh, really good materials.
And I would eat it after training.

Also, try not to drink at all, atleast while cuttin', helps you so much.

I don't actually cheat as such, but I set aside a day every 2-3 weeks when I eat non-diet food. So 2 weeks ago I had a hamburger for lunch (mmmmmm......) and a curry for dinner.

I still work out on this day and it is a nice thing to look forward to.

Guys, did you like my addition to the poll?
the 24/7 cheating ....LOL

I can relate to that bro.

I'm looking forward to a weekend off. I've got a BBQ to go to tomorrow night and a friend is coming over for the weekend so cheating weekend for me. :)

I'll still be training though.

I usually do a cheat day once I get going on my diet. Generally 2-3 weeks, I feel once the metabolism gets going, the body can't really store that much fat in one day.

Nothing quite like those post cheat day runs :)

Amen brother!

I should have also mentioned, that i feel a cheat day helps to reregulate the metabolism, after one has been dieting for a long period of time.

Mr.X like the 24/7 funny.

I was having a cheat day once a week it was a Roasted Garlic and Sundried Tomato Pizza. I haven't cheated in over three weeks because I'm the type of person you give an inch to and I'll take a mile:)

i almost never cheat, but when i do it's usually like 2 spoon-3 spoons of 98% fat free yogurt. I work at an icecream cafe that serves sundaes, banana splits, burgers, the works.

it's a really fun and a challenge to control myself and have enough self discipline not to even eat 'a spoonful of icecream here and there'. maybe which is why i hardly cheat. i see really good tasting food everyday, i know it's there, so maybe my psychological mindset is sort of like "the food is there, no one is going to take it away, i don't have to eat it right away".

anyways, to more helpful advice, flax seed meal drink+whey protein in plain water while on xenadrine usually kills any sort of craving i have for almost anything other than girls. -_-

Fri , Sat, and Sun Night are my Cheat Meals, They only last a few hours, include no fat and alot of simple and complex carbs.

Mon-Thurs I weight train+cardio 1st thing in the morn
Then I eat like
30-50 grams of carbs a day
40-60 grams of fat
200+ protein

Ive been gaining like 1lb every couple weeks but I am seeing more cuts and gains, I think Im gaining Muscle mass and decreasing BF% but Im not sure how well this is really working, its enjoyable anyway.

I've tried it both ways. When I'm strict and don't cheat I lose weight very slow.
When I have a cheat day and I do mean CHEAT the fat literally seems to melt away. I'll never do a diet without a cheat day again. Here are the meals usually on a cheat day:

french toast with gobs of syrup and butter eggs and bacon
big mac or whopper mozzerrella cheese sticks coke
ice cream
pizza and more icecream and more soda
usually some chips or cookies and milk maybe some popcorn

anyway you get the picture, Not much of anything good. Yet it seems to work wonders for me losing weight.

It all depends in what diet you're on. If you are doing a keto diet some might see the carb up day/-s as a cheat day. When your on a "regular" cutting diet, like moderate to low carbs, high protein and low-mod. fat, I think a cheat day is necessary. Why?
Well, your metabolism decreases by time on a low calorie diet, for some faster and for some slower. I think everyone should have a cheat day just to increase your metabolism, bump it up. It also depends on your % bodyfat. If you are +20% of bodyfat a cheatday would be needed every 3-4:th week. From around 15+ you shpould take one every second to every third week. When you get down to 10-12% the hole cutting thing starts to slow and you should have one cheat day every second week. Under 10%, I believe you should have one cheat day every week. This cheat day should stand for OFF day conserning all training what so ever. This day is the day you should take a break from everything that has with cutting to do. It maybe sounds easy, but I promise it isn't. If you already are at 7% bodyfat and would like to reach 5% or so, I promise you it will take more that you think to have one cheating day. It's all about diciplin. This cheating day will increase your metabolism more than you think. One cheat day wont make you gain 2lb of fat or anything, just as long as you don't cheat on any other day than this cheat day, lets say every sunday. So sunday is your Cheat day.

Your mind: A cheat day is more than just good for increasing your metabolism. It's also good in the way It will make you not cheat during the week. This day is your goal to reach, a day you are looking forward to. Therefor it should be easier for you to hold your diet monday to saturday, you have a goal to reach, and that goal is not to cheat until sunday. If you don't cheat for weeks and weeks you might begin to cheat every now and then.

I always cheat once a week when I'm cutting. It allows me to keep my metabolism high during the week and for me to have a goal every week. My goal is to drop 2lb every week. I weight myself on saturday morning, before I start ceating. On the sunday I've gained lots of wather and my bodyweight sometimes reach +8lb in one day, and of course it's not fat. Think of it this way. How many calories would one need to eat to gain 8lb in one day. One gram of protein is 4cals, 1g of carbs is 4cals and one gram of fat is 9cals, you count. Then, how many of these cals would then be stored as fat..?
Anyway, on the monday I've still water left from this cheat day. When you reach the tuesday you should see some nice results, you are harder than you were last wednsday. When you reach friday you have droped more fat than you should had done without the cheat day.

Good luck

BTW: Sorry for the spelling..hehe

I'm into week three of a straight keto diet. I started off having around 50-60 lbs of fat to lose. I dropped around 15 so far. I dont plan on having any cheat days until at least another month. Then I will set aside one day to cheat.

I have a whole cheat day and boy did I have a nice cheat day yesterday. I only have them when I feel like I am not recoving well enough or have little energy.

CHEAT DAY

I am now trying to only have one cheat meal a week. I dieted for fifty days with no cheat days, then I went on a two month binge. We're talking at least four desserts a day (and trust me, that is by no means an exageration!) I'm now trying to limit myself so I don't go crazy. I rarely crave junk food - it's the desserts that kill me! I think today is day 19, and I am seeing better results now than at the end of the fifty day diet! I'm thinking about competing in a fitness competition next year. If I can see satisfactory results by the end of December, I will decide. The funny thing about this whole dieting concept is that (for me) once I've reached my goal, I can't seem to refocus. I just binge! Anyone else relate to that?

Fuck man, i been dieting for months upon months I got down to about 8 percent bf and about two days ago I broke and been eating M&M's and everything under the sun heh, come sometime next week I am gonna do alittle bulking for a lifting plan so I think its ok but tomorrow I am gonna get strict again do cardio all week long then eat clean foods for my bulking.

I refeed twice a week, if you can count that as cheating. Unfortunately, it's just cream of wheat and oatmeal, but I get to take my calories higher. It's that damn diet log; I feel the need to write everything down, which prevents me from going overboard. Nothing like a little guilt...

I usually cheat on saturday and wedensdays.

I dont really eat stuff like pizza and fries and stuff, i just usually up the carbs and have more cereals which i crave. It keeps me focussed on my diet for the rest of the week and on undays (my hard training session) it gives me more incentive to bust my ass :)

summer house started - beer on Friday and Saturday nights - not much food though - try and get as much protein as possible on the weekend... from a caloric standpoint, I am not sure how far over my maintenance I go.. at 260 pounds it gives me a lot of wiggle room...

come monday i feel so lean though - i cannot explain it

sundays i refeed.

usually 4 servings of:
1 1/2 cups oatmeal and 2 scoops no carb isopure

then i have a cheat meal and dessert.

Im evil with my diet, I cheat every weekend at bars getting totally trashed with friends and Ive still managed to drop 70lb in the past 10 months :)

I usually only cheat one week out of a week. Oh, wait a minute. I mean I only cheat Sunday-Saturday. What is cutting anyway? :FRlol:

I'll definately cheat once a week if not 2. Doesn't slow down fat loss for me and keeps me sane. I just went off my diet for 2 weeks, ate anything I wanted. Didn't gain a lb. Weird. I haven't had a fast metabolism since I was 14.

Since my latest routine started... 5 days ago.. i havn't cheaten.. havn't had a junk food in over a week and a half.. the plan is to not have any junk food till at least another month.. i do understand the concept in how a cheat meal boost metabolic rate, how ever the problem with me is that i think that when i have a cheat meal.. i will get more and more cravings (can compare with smoking) and will include a cheat meal more often sometimes throw me off my routine..
So in 30 days or so i will probably go for a nice meal at kfc or binge at pizza hut.. how ever if i have the will power i will just have sub-way...

didnt break through with gains till i started cheating once a day......a few burgers or something, no fries....some pizza a sub, few bagels....etc.

Nice reply....I agree 100%. If you do not have a "drop dead date" like a contest, and you are doing it purely for asthetics, a cheat meal can be very beneficial.

I have done strict contest dieting 12 times, and it is no fun. My wife says I am inhuman the way I can stick to a diet if need be. Dieting sucks, so anything you can do to make it easier on yourself.....

Figure if you eat 6 meals per day on average, that is 42 meals per week. If you cheat on 1 meal, that is a pretty darn good percentage, about 97% :)

bulking = good time....as cuttting is around the corner and SUCKS!

Whats on the menu for today bro?

breakfast:
oats for 120 carbs
whey for 60 grams protein

mid morning:
2 cups of raisn bran cereal 90 carbs
2 cups 1% cottage cheese 60 protein + 24 carbs

lunch:
footlong chicken sub from subway plus chips and diet pop.

I cheat on Fridays just so I can still enjoy going to the gym and increasing my size but at the same time, have some fun. Maybe just one meal though. Usually lunch or dinner.

What do your cheats entail exactly?

Anyone got a sample cheat day meal for meal?

I'm the same way. I might have more of something clean, but only if I'm feeling low in energy, so I figure it's beneficial anyway.

I have a schduled cheat meal oncw a week. I'm cutting for a show in April so it's one of the things that keeps me going. It's funny though...my cheat meals are not what most think is a cheat meal. I tell people what I had on my cheat day and they laugh at me and say, "That's not a cheat!". But to me it is. My week consists of fish & chicken, broccoli and salads. Very low carbs and good fats like olive oil. No fatty ingredients on anything.

So what is MY cheat that people make fun of? A big salad with chicken and regular honey mustard dressing in a tortilla shell...and maybe a cookie. That's it...no McDonalds or fried foods like fries. I work to hard to throw it all away for that greasy shit!!! ;) :chomp:

A 'cheat' meal every 2-3 days, but that cheat meal doesn't have tons of calories, it's just a little junky. I try not to eat fatty/carby meals, so a cheat meal might be a spicy chicken sandwhich and 10 nuggets at wendy's.

On a cut??? NOO WAY! You;ll never get shredded with this.......trust me.

Personally, I don't cheat but maybe ONCE during my entire cutting cycle.....this is usually 12 weeks, sometimes 8.

I bulk hard, excess cals and tons of food I dont normally eat, so it's all out of my system come cut time!

usually its just a meal but i have a whole day

after 6 days times 6 meals of protein shakes, tuna chicken etc. the cheat meal usually hurts my stomach..its almost all i can handle then its back to tuna and such but i cut out the protein shake...eat tuna or chicken on bread with some baked chips or something

^^ LOL I hear that all the time when I'm cutting, but my cheat would be a glass of wine & a blue cheese crusted filet ... Mmmm

same with me, one meal once a week is my 'cheat' ... need to get back to that as it's cutting time :chomp:

I'm a firefighter, and that makes the diet at the firehouse VERY hard to follow, since we split cooking duties. Me and a couple others eat real clean, but I might go in tomorrow and find out fried chicken is on for dinner. I bring my own chicken breast or tuna or whatnot.....but sometimes it just smells sooooo good, and tastes so goooood on the lips (its hard to sit down and watch 11 others eat bowl after bowl of spaghetti, while you eat a chicken breast and brown rice and broc......and ofcourse get your balls busted by the fatties about how good it taste).

If I have any of those slips I dont cheat that weak. If I dont slip at all, I have a cheat meal. Last week was half a donatos pizza, thin crust of course (still cant help myself about worrying about carbs lol)

4 pancakes w/ butter and syrup
1 tuna melt with fries

What is this? Your food for a cheat day?

I cheat once a week. Usually on a Sunday. My diet consist of chinese food, ice cream, cheese cake and chocolates. About 5,000 - 6000 calories.

I usually have batterd fish and a portion of chips from the local greasy chippy once a week, wich ins't helping me lose bodyfat, i need to give myself a slap round the chops and say no to junk food.

full cheat day, sometimes 2. I'm a hardcore runner so I can get away with it. I guess i'd be losing 4lbs a week if I didnt have cheat days. I'm thinking of making one of my days a 'cleaner' cheat day though. I dont think i'd much of a social life (no hunnies) without letting lose on the weekends.

I eat a 2000 or 2500 calorie cheat-meal about every 2 to 3 weeks, it could be a big cream of wheat made with 2 or 3% milk, along with some cuban bread, and cake. Or it could be a whole frozen Digiornio Pizza (since pizza is one of the junk food with lowest calories), i mean u could get a lot more calories from burgers, and fried foods.

I've noticed that a whole digiornio pizza only has 1500 calories, that's a lot less calories than eating out at a restaurant, going out to any Wendys etc. in which is the case u could get 5000 calories

So to sum it up, my cheat meals are made of 2000 to 3000 calories which is not much really

I have a cheatish meal once a week - and it always have to be sugar based - dont know whether my diet is lacking summat..Still havent succumed to alcohol since March of this year though.

I just listen to what my body is telling me. This is how I decide when to have a cheat day or a cheat meal. And I decide when to take a break from heavy dieting and cardio.

When cutting or bulking I follow the same method. Only difference between my bulking diets and cutting diets are calorie intake and macros. I eat the same foods regardless.

But when my body tells me I need to carb up, I carb up for a day. I don't count my calories or macros on carb up days.

When my body tells me I need a cheat meal, I eat a cheat meal. But it is never more than 1 per week while cutting. Never more than 2 per week when bulking.

Sometimes I will do a full on cheat day. But rarely ever more than 2 times per month. I typically save these for special days, birthdays, events, etc...

The sometimes I will quit dieting for a week or two and eat like a normal healthy person.

I feel like all of these serve a purpose both mentally and physically. They always seem to have extremely great benefits. Cheat days and cheat meals seem to give my metabolism a supercharged boost, same with carb ups. Taking a week or two off of the diet is more of a mental reset, but also resets me physically and seems to produce a super effect when I start back on my diet.

Important thing is to keep them controlled and only do them when you have been operating at 100% and know you can go straight back to 100%. This is important.

My cheat meals, days, carb ups, and time off always have supplementation of r-ala, cla, and sesapure.

As far as foods go, here are my favorite cheats:

total cheats: pizza, taco bell, chocolate chip pancackes, donut, indian food, gyros, blizzards, biscuits and gravy

carb up/refeed cheats: sugary cereals (golden grahams, cinnamon toast crunch, cocoa krispies), smartees, powerade, TCBY frozen yogurt, wheat bread, jello pudding sugar free fat free, starbust occasionally

One cheat night and one cheat meal.....Saturday night Beer Beer Beer......then Sunday one meal usally big mac large fry and 8piece nuuggets...yum yum. Otherwise all week long clean clean clean foods

LMAO, that is one hell of a cheat day! :FRlol:

I do a whole cheat day. I find by the end of the week I'm completely flat and low on energy. So, I do a carb replenish just working back in dairy and other simple carbs without getting out of hand eating a bunch of shit or drinking alcohol. I usually look like I put on 10-15lbs of muscle after my muscles fill back up.

yea... or if I make alot of progress, then I usually start to run out of motivation. it's more of a "oh well the problem is not so bad now so now it's not that big of a deal for me to diet and exercise anymore" type of a deal.

I am not trying to be pro here or anything, I just wanted to drop the 45 extra pounds I have added since highschool. I have since changed my goal to getting to 10% bf and staying there for the rest of my life and that seems to have increased my motivation quite significantly. I am no longer trying to "lose weight" as to maintain a decent level of fitness. (and I still need to lose another 6.6% bf, but that is another subject...)

- Tony

I usually drink and eat bad on fri or sat nights in the summer. I am ok with doing it too. I figure if I can keep and maintain around 10% bf I have no guilt with cheating. Sun-thur iam all business with my diet. I enjoy drinkin and sitting in the sun, I cant help it.
