do any of you have cheat meals while your training for a competition? I know this sounds bad- but I get really burned out by Fri on the restrictive diet & blow it a little Fri night (red wine).

anyone else & how bad is this?

Well, If it's ONLY on Friday night, Then you're doing pretty good sis :qt:

I haven't had a cheat meal in over 8 weeks and wont be having one for anthor 12 weeks and 6 days. It all depedns on what you can handle and where you are at. If it is just one glass of red wine it is really not that bad at all.

Do you feel it is affecting your gains? If not, then I am sure you are fine.

You will probably cut it out in the few weeks before comp.

At this point I don't get cheat meals.......but I'm still drinking Diet Soda --> keeping me a little sane.

Cheat meals need to fit your progress. I would say at 6 weeks out you need to really get serious, like 100% serious. At this point you need to get your metabolism running optimally. I generally have no scheduled cheats during my competition training but up to 8 weeks out I've had stuff like a small handful of popcorn at the movies or some sugar free ice pops. Otherwise, "cheats" are honestly the days I get carbs when I start carb rotation. Up until last week I was getting my carbs from yams and I could put some Splenda on them. Now I'm on regular russet potatos. BORING.

Let me clarify when I say "up to 8 weeks I've had"... this does NOT mean these are regular things. It means that my diet is 100% cheat meal free but can accommodate a 1 time popcorn or whatever. Not a full "cheat meal".

Wine -- just was w/ anything that isn't water -- its stuff your body has to process so the general rule is drink 2x as much water as the size of whatever was your non-water. E.g. 6 oz wine -- 12 oz water.

But also as you are training your body to run optimally, if u throw in stuff that isn't part of your regimented diet it can bog down your progress. That is the risk / reward u have to weigh every time u deviate from your diet.
