cardio

after an intense leg workout today, I tried to bust out some cardio, but I only lasted for about 7 mins. I normally go for about 15-18 mins tops. am I robbing myself of fat burning properties of cardio? if I am that pooped, have I worked myself out efficiently? or am I just low on carbs?

For me a good leg work out beats the hell out of any cardio you can do. I'm so beat sometimes I can't even talk to my work out buddy. I try to do five minutes of cardio before to warm up and I go slow for twenty on tread mill post work out. My body is so depleted of nutrients by then I can hardly drive my stick home.

I'm with jabs. I think if you're hitting legs adequately, cardio right after will be nearly impossible. I usually have to stare at the ceiling for a while before I attempt the long journey to my car afterward.

I was using leg day as an example. what about other days? I know efficient cardio time is 15-20 mins and 30 mins is overkill, actually bad for you, but what about 5-10 mins postworkout?

If you want the best benifits of cardio do it in the morning or right after a work out. Your carbs are depleted and you should burn the fat better. Play around with your intensity and duration. I did forty minutes for a while and I burned a lot of fat but my muscle mass went away too. Right now I do twenty minutes hard right after a work out 3 times a week and never after a leg work out. Unless I want to get ride of some lactic acid. 20 minutes does the trick for me.
