Carbs ..Sodium..and water retention?

My question is: What will make you retain more water? Lets say a diet with alot of carbs, but low in sodium vs. a diet low in carbs,like a keto, but alot of sodium, from like cheese, bacon ect.
Just curious, its seems like when ever i diet with low carbs my face really leans up, but as soon as I eat some carbs(clean)my face puffs back up. I am between cycles now, so thats not the problem.
 
Carbs (and the subsequently elevated insulin levels from eating them) produce the biggest water retention, in my experience.
 
Carbs is converted as glucose in your muscles.
Each molecyle of glucose, holds two molecyles of water.
 
which brings up to a neat observation...

an alternative to steroids to induce water bloat???
