Can't stop hitting veins and nerves.

Can't believe this... I avoid all visible veins.. But today I managed to hit what I guess are veins.. Decent flow of blood for a good few minutes with pressure on each "miss".

Multiple times in multiple places, then just hit a nerve which hurt and couldn't walk right for a while -_- I feel like a complete retard.

(I'm pinning quads.. But jeez all of a sudden, I just can't get this right.)
Anyone ever get this?

Sit on the couch or bed with your leg straight and outstretched and relaxed.. compared to when your knee is bent it makes all the dif in the world try it :)

I always have leg outstretched and relaxed! Wouldn't want to try flexed or knee bent haha :( Just all of a sudden, doesn't want to work with me anymore. Going to look into this ventro glute thing I guess :/
Cheers anyways lol

what size of pins are you using, and where exactly are pinning? Is this your first time? Do you measure the correct spots out before you pin?

23 1.1/2 inch. Upper, outer quads. 5th week and haven't had issues until now and wherever I go I manage to get large bleeds -_-. looking up alternatives before I go to bed now..

You should get an anatomy book and study it.

Try a 25 gauge 1 1/2 . I was having the same problem several years back and switched and have had no issues.

I hate quad shots i only do glutes and delts now. and a squrt of blood is not uncommon, happens all the time to me when taking pin out, no biggie. only for a sec right.

you're bound to hit something sometimes when u pin in quads. why dont you try delts? its alot harder to hit a vein there and very minimal blood. just think about it, legs are your biggest muscle (im not a doctor but i would assume they also have the most veins) so your almost guaranteed to hit something especially with little experience. delts are the best bet, and i wouldnt do glutes because its pretty hard to see where you're pinning.

I had problems with quads also, and glutes were just uncomfortable to pin and sitting afterwards wasn't fun either. Delts were my money spot, haven't tried chest yet, but I've been hearing good things.

you are pinning the wrong spot on the quad. you are either pinning too low on the leg or you are pinning too much on the inside.

get a marker or pen and draw a line exactly between the knee and hip going right to left and then another one going up and down from the knee to the hip. you pin the upper outer quad.

I actually moved up my leg just slightly and started mucking up, I section my leg up as the sites say Strangely enough :S

Had a check up on what you guys wrote... Tried again and had no issues at all.
Thanks :)

when you are sitting down you may think you are hitting the correct spot but 99 out of 100 times you end up going too low.. i used to do the same thing. we get stubborn sometimes and cocky as we get experienced so we assume we can just guess. but even to this day i draw lines on my leg standing up, then i sit down and inject with a relaxed leg. i lean on my bathtub.

Go Sub-Q! You'll never have to worry about hitting veins again!

that is an abcess waiting to happen. you always have to inject oil IM. ALWAYS. otherwise it will clot up and then you will have to drain it

also its very difficult to push thick oil through a slin pin.

Cheers for the heads up steve. I'll give that a shot today. Just to clarify, split quad into four even sections with a cross, '+' then upper outter section.
Will let you know if you've solved my problem later :)

Ideally for quad injects, my method has been to place your hand on the frontal/lateral quad with the middle finger tip touching the frontal/lateral top of the knee and keeping the thunb joint in line up the quad with your middle finger, that would normally be near halfway up the quad for the right inject spot. That is probably the best way for me to describe it without submitting a photo which will be different for everyone's quad and hand size. That has always worked really well for me though.

BTW, veins are highly innervated, so when you feel like you hit a nerve you may very well have gone through a vein (not landed inside a vein but through so aspiration won't tell you).
