Can Someone Explain the Karma Meter System to Me?

Why is it that sometimes I have a lot of lighter green boxes; then sometimes I have a few light green boxes and a few dark green boxes; and some people have crowns and no boxes?

I believe you get your first two crowns at the 500,000K mark. Keep hitting the Bookie K thread (and of course make some bets in the forum) and you can amass some substantial K thanks to all the mods and members, there.
