The latter part of my post was not directed towards you, but all the others that seemed to think that it is "easier" to be the parent of one gender child over the other. As you pointed out, it matters not as it takes two to create one life.

Sex and death - two "uncomfortable" topics that children begin to question adults about between the ages of 4 - 6. If everyone would just stopped being so fucking terrified of these two basic normal parts of our human existance, then our lives would be so much less complicated.

Back when Jesus was around people could wait until they got married because over there it happened when they were that young in arranged marriages. Now we are expected to wait an extra 10-15 years to finally have sex and then get divorced 2 years later? The fact is that humans have sex and become sexually active around mid teen years on average. Letting a 15-16 year old "make their own choices" (not in the sense of subjective personal choices, such as clothes or music) is like giving a monkey a gun. Use a little introspection and recall what you and your peers were like during this time and tell us how "rational" you were.

I've never talked about it to my parents before and believe it or not im still disease free and have no children (im 20 yearolds btw). If my parents told me not to have sex until i was older or whatever, I wouldn't listen to them because I know I'm mature and capable of making my own choices in life. So from my experience anyways, there isn't really much you can do with your kid except give them the right ideas (like protection) and the information (i.e. diseases) and do a good job raising them as an overall person, and they're going to be fine.

On another note, I dont believe parents not wanting their kids to have sex has anything to do with jealously.. It's more a safety concern, and just the fact that no one needs the mental image of some loser of a guy railing your daughter from behind and doing all those things you did/wanted to do at his age...
