what do you guys think about yo yo dieting and severe calorie restriction while also doing tons of cardio? i ask because seems like for me anytime i do this i end up going backwards in my goals and so do many others. what is the science behind this?
the science behind crashing calories is you drop your metabolic rate. this is nutrition 101 which is why i cannot stand when people tell others to find your maintenance and eat in a deficit. that only works in the short term but will not work long term. our bodies are a furnace. a fat person who eats all day has a very fast metabolism for example but people assume they have a slow one. WRONG
Cardio will help fat loss but excessive cardio makes no sense. Diet is so much more important when it comes to cutting. I would do your daily cardio but count on diet as your main source of fat loss.
Severe calorie restrictions only work briefly, because your body will turn down its metabolic rate in response. Look at options like intermittent fasting instead.
