Are the calories it takes to maintain a certain weight the same as what it takes to get to that weight. Ex, if I maintained a weight 15 lbs lighter by eating 2700-3000 kcals, when I start cutting, do I start eating 2700, or do I need to eat even less to get to that weight?

you could technically eat that and get to the weight at which that amount is considered maintence however there are tons of variables.

Slowing and speeding up of metabolism is a major factor.

A guy that bulkg from 180-190 may need to eat more to hold 190
than a guy that cutting from 200-190.

That is untill there metabolism adjust. The body trys its best against out best wishes to change in bodyweight.

Enock,

I "bulked" to gain the 15 lbs, but have been holding that fairly steady for about a month. This was after dieting for quite some time, and getting pretty lean. I had maintained my lower weight for about 1.5 years without super-strict dieting, but I was still cutting calories. When I loosened up about 3 months ago, I gained the 15 lbs fairly quickly--in less than one month! I have a feeling some of these pounds are water, some are fat, and some is muscle. Do you think my body will bounce back easily?
