Calf development

Since there are two muscles in the calves, is it possible to only train one?

Reason i ask is that i notice my caves are wide looking from the front, but they look cut off(???) from the side, so i figured im working them one way only???

ive heard that seated and standing hit a diff part each, but im not too sure about how true that is.

Standing hits a mixture of soleus and gastrocs, seated is just soleus.

A bigger soleus might enhance the look of your calves from the side, but it takes away from the size of your gastrocs when viewed from the back.

i do both every leg day and id have to say calves are the best part of my body.

your like one in 50 that can say that...congrats!!

alot of these 250+ lifters at my gym have huge quads/ hams & the most under-developed calves & these guys use the whole stack on calves!!

Its genetics. . .not everyone has the ability to build large calves . . . they are probably the most difficult muscle to develop in the human body.

Do note that there is a tibialis anterior...they're trained using your heels as the pivotal point...although thats from the front. Heh calves are the only respectable part of my body...not sure if that's a good trade off though =/. I'm making progress with other parts (I find forearms, pecs and deltoids to be a bitch)
