Indeed...There are people I disagree with but I can respect their position because they make reasoned arguments. There is no "winner" or "loser" when it comes to public policy; Bad policies are bad for everyone. I understand why progressives hold their positions, I have compassion for my fellow man, I just disagree about how the problem should be solved.

I think that's because politics, economics and religion are all opinion. None of the pure ideologies can work. They all require compromise, checks and balances. Sometimes you have to cherry pick solutions from different ideologies, depending on the problem and the times. Neither pure Keynes nor LVM are workable. The worship of free market or of central planning are equally flawed.
