Now I got fucking tendonitis of the right shoulder!!! ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Injuries are driving me fucking nuts!!!! I'm too fucking delicate!

Anyways! I need an anti-inflammatory. What is the best one out there? I know a girl that works at a pharmacy. She can get me whatever I want. But I need to know a name and dose. Can somebody please help me? Quick!!!!!

Bros! I fucking overdosed on Aleve, Advil and Aspirin last night. Barely did jack shit for my shoulder!

Bros please! No fucking around! This thing hurts and its fucking swelling up! I need an answer ASAP!!!

I have chronic bursitis in my left shoulder and the doc gave me voltaren 100mg tabs. It's on the same level as vioxx, I belive. It does work wonders, however if you drink while on the pills, it will make your stomach bleed. I only take it when I absolutly have to.
Iceing my shoulder down 15 minutes on and 15 off also helped a lot.

Ketoprofen, it's timed released. Good shit :Chef:

And I planned on drinking this weekend.

Sorry to hear about that man. I'm curious to learn how your shoulder feels because my left should has been sore for about a week now but I'm not sure if it's tendonitis? Does it hurt only when you move it or is it a constant pain? thanks man. Obviously this is all new to me so I can't help you on the anti-inflammatory. Didn't mean to jack your thread.

i have severe arthritis in my ankle and the doc gave me hydrocodone. now that may be a bit much but it works for me. other than that maybe a muscle relaxer. try zanaflex or valium. it sounds like your in a but load of pain. and since over the counter dont work you may want to at leased consider the before mentioned. take care bro, hope this helps.

Hey Carth......Bro Bextra works really great for me! Vioxx is still out there even though they have allot of things being said about the side effects but it worked best for me. I still have some and if I was in your area I would bring it to you Bro! Good luck.....

go to the doc. bro that is the only person who can verify and correct your injury with the right medication. Come on man ef wants you in tip top shape for this contest. Get the shit checked out bro. :mix:

I went to bed last night at 10pm. And before that I did feel my shoulder feeling funny. Then at around 12midnight, I woke up in fucking pain!!!! I couldn't move my damn arm for shit! I got up and downed 2 advils. Went back to bed and woke up at 2am in even MORE pain!

So I got up and downed 3 Aleves. Then I couldn't go back to sleep. The pain kept getting worse and worse. I had to get up from bed and get on the computer. I did some research. It said that if I go the hospital I would be there a looooooong time!

They would NOT run a Xray test. That I would have to wait for an MRI or Ultrasound. I was already fucking sleepy as hell and fucking pissed off! And I hate hospitals! So then I started to take Aspirin. Fuck this!!! Nothing works. I can now move the arm a bit more. But it does hurt! And I'm soooooooo tired!

These anti-inflammorty you guys just mentioend. I did research. They have nasty side effects bros!

get motrin 800mg and get some percs only 5mg just to ease the pain....ibuprofen is one of the best anti inflamitories on the market.....rub some mineral ice deep into the spot and then ice...it will subside

Go to the Dr. then. That may be your best bet Carth. Maybe he'll give you a cortisone shot or somethin'?????? Good luck, Sith Lord. :Chef:

I've got a bulging disc in my lower back and my doctor gave me some Lodine 400mg. I take 2 a day and it works great.Lodine has been around quite awhile so it's presumably safe.

Yea Hydrocodone will no doubt kill the pain right away but you still need to take something like Vioxx, Bextra, and others like that. Diclofenac is a timed release that I have heard works great. Take a soma with that and man you don't even need to drink this weekend!!!!

Bro sorry to tell you almost all of them have bad side effects! But look if you read about any drug it will list so many bad side effects that nobody would take them if you got all that! Only a few people get any of them but you just have to watch how you take it & damn sure don't drink on it. Yea don't go to the ER for nothing find a Urgent Care place they get you in and out much faster!!

Yup, lodine is what I had to take a couple years back and it's a great anti-inflamitory. HOWEVER, why not just go see a doc? I don't get it.

Carth,
If your a responsible person I would recommend Nu-Bain. It is a very popular pain killer in the bodybuilding community, however it is very additive and if you lose control you will get hooked and that sucks, believe me. I went through withdrawls because I was stupid and thought I was invinsible. It will definitely relieve the pain but remember it is not something you want to do on a regular basis.
:worried:

Naproxen Sodium is aleve BUT RX strength is the same as taking 2 tablets of Aleve.

The next thing you could try is Bextra.

This out to be interesting. How much time does he spend there before he freaks out on someone? LOL

Damn I didn't even think about that!!!! Oh shit he better take a xanax before he even goes or he is going to loose it after sitting there for 4 hours before even getting seen! I told him to go to a Urgent Care Clinic because they are much quicker, cheaper, nicer, and seem to give you some meds for the pain instead of telling you take some advil and rotate heat & ice and then charge you $5,000! Like you haven't tried that before you came there and sat for 4 damn hours!!!

Carth man, Im a physical therapist, what you need to do for now is take 3-4 styrofoam cups and fill them 3/4 way with water and freeze them, then when frozen take one out and tear off the top half of the cup so the ice is sticking out and massage it into the sore area of your shoulder for about 10-15 minutes (it will first be COLD, then go NUMB, than actually start to BURN) to be effective and get deep down into the tissues you need to get massaging it in until it burns for about 3-4 mins. Repeat this every 2-3 hours as needed and start stretching your shoulder as soon as possible. If you need specs on stretches you can email me at [email protected]

This should be effective untill you can find an anti-inflam that works for you, usually 800mg of aleve, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, advil, etc works well but you have to take every 2-4 hours to keep a therapeutic dose in your system, its not like a pain pill that you take once and the pain goes away, you have to keep the effective dose in your system untill the inflammation goes down, which could take days.

Celebrex! I swear by the stuff..I had tendonitis in my right wrist with a touch of carpol tunnel. Used it for about a good month, and slowly weined myself off. Completely healed up. Make sure you rest and use ice..

hydrocodone, oxycodone (percocet) either will work. they are both hard on the liver, not that big a deal though i was on them for a year. i'm fine. drink even more water though they dehydrate you and you can get constipated if that happens.

Those drugs only mask the pain, they dont reduce the inflammation!

Naproxin 500mg worked well for my knee and my wrist. Helped me stay in the gym through a couple of injuries and allowed it to heel in the process.

Just woke up a few hours ago. I took an old expired vicodine. It killed the intense pain. And it allowed me to sleep since I didn't get ANY last night. I have also taken about 4 aleves. I'm still in a little bit of pain. But at least I can move the arm a bit more now.

I couldn't even wipe my own ass for christs sake! I'm not a lefty you know! I took a shower and the misses had to bath me like a fucking baby. I just do NOT know how to use the left arm! LOL

I just told Bruce410 how much this shit hurts. It hurts way more than the time I broke my hand 5 years ago after punching some dude in the face while at the gym.

Criffer, I am going to do what you said. I'll let you know wassup. Thanks to all the brothers for caring. I'm out!

Oh yeah btw! Why the fuck does this shit happen? I didn't do anything to get this. It just happened out of the blue!

carth,
i hate to say this man but i doubt its tendonitis if it truly happened out of the blue. i am an er doc, granted i am not an ortho but i have apretty decent ortho package under my belt, i end up using some of it most every shift..anyway my point is, everything ortho related i check out, get stabilized, and give them a choice of 2-3 guys to see. i say " call dr so and so, tell him you saw me in the er, and they will work you in asap". so find a good local ortho, get checked out properly. in the mean time you might try mobic (meloxicam) 7,5mg. its an nsaid but a great anti-inflammatory, meaning it will lessen pain and inflammation. good luck, pm me if you need anything else.

Def go w/what criffer said. Ibuprofen at 800mg (at least 3 times a day) Also cryotherapy ice (is simple/basic) but it works wonders. Most of your elite athletes incorporate ice baths, cryo for recovery so get the dixie cups filled pronto

good luck.

Bro, I developed tendonitis in my left arm and couldn't really pinpoint it on any one thing that I did, it just came on all of a sudden. The only thing I can figure is I overtrained. It would bring tears to my eyes and I felt like cutting my arm off at times.

I had to totally rest it for three weeks (probably not you want to hear) per doc orders (no lifting but did cardio), used ice and heating pad, and Aleve. After that it was good as new and stronger than ever.

Good luck and see a doc.

Alright bro, i agree with this guy a 100%. I speak from experience here, the way you described your pain coming on in the night and then intensified as the night went on is the exact thing that happened to me. I did end up going to the hospital because the pain was just stupid and i needed releif. He gave me the exact advice about the ice and how to ice it(there are three stages of icing as mentioned above, first aching then burning then numbness, in this order) once the numbness sets in your good and it should take about 20 minutes. You can also go 20 minutes on 20 minutes off and then on again, this will put a pretty good fuckin dent in the swelling and pain.

As for your anti-inflamatory, you should try NAPROXEN, i don't know if it's also called ALEVE but i know NAPROXEN is what i have cuz i'm lookin' right at the bottle, it worked wonders, and as far as the sides concerning the stomach, you'll notice that all anti-inflamatories are hard on the stomach some more than others but they all will be so take the advice about not drinking when on them.

Last but not least i hate to be the bearer of bad news but your probably going to have to get some physiotherapy done. It absolutely cured my shoulder, what they can do for you is give you some strengthening excercises by properly assessing your injury and they can also give you ultesound on the area that is injured which stimulates blood flow to the damaged tissue which speeds up the healing, what most people don't realize is that doctors are really only good for things that are related to boilogical conditions they are not specialists in the mechanics of the body so seeing a physiotherapist is probably best.

Sorry i replied so late i just saw this this morning.

All the best bro and remember icing is key and physio is the smart way to go.

Later bro :)

if the pain is that bad, go see a private doctor.

I agree with satch, I tore my back muscle really bad and shredded the tendon doing a really heavy squat 585lbs to be exact. I did it before and had no problems all. it took was one bad lift ,and I had to go to my doc and tell him what I did he gave me Codeine before I got surgery, I fucked my self up really bad. That is why I have been away from the boards for so long. But I am jumping back on the horse and ready to ride again.I way 215 lbs now back then I was weighing about 250lbs.

Also costed me over 3,000 dollars in medical bills.

I had the same problem in my left shoulder tendon. You could see the swelling and it was an intense deep ache. The only thing that made it better was a series of cortisone(sp?) shots directly into the tendon. Doc (Orthopedic Surgeon) shot ALLOT into it, it friggin bulged and he said I would feel something like an intense sugar high...which I did.

Bad part is that the cortisone will make it feel great and mask the injury so you may go out and start lifting too soon. Everyone is different so you may heal faster.

Sometimes I can still feel the injury "talking" to me so I back off a little by using lighter weights. Most of the time it's fine. I can't do behind the neck press anymore though.

Let us know what happens...didja go to the hospital? And watch out fer the hurricane...you must be getting some bad weather by now...

First off, I feel he should go the surgery route if it is viable. But if he doesn't; wouldn't Deca and HGH help some in the pain/recovery process?

Good luck with the shoulder Carth, I know how bad that sucks.

Carth you want to know how the fuck this shit happens and you didn't even do anything? It's called getting OLD!!! Bro you know your getting old when you have to stretch B4 U begin to Jerk Off!!! Not to long ago I had a buddy call out my name & I went to look & my damn neck made a little pop. I couldn't look to the left for about 2 weeks and it hurt like a MF!!! Can't feel sorry 4U about having to have the wife bathe you!!!

watch out for aleve/naproxen sodium!!! i gave myself an ulcer using that shit. very harsh on the stomach, even moreso if you are sensitive.

I'm doing better today bros. The pain is there but NOT as bad as yesterday. HOLY SHIT!!!! That fucking hurt!!! Sleep has been fucking lousy! I can move the arm but barely. Like I said...I do NOT know what caused this. I was fine all of Thursday. I go to sleep and in 2 hours I wake up in fucking pain and cannot move the arm for shit!!

This has been happening to me as of the past 2 years. Out of the blue, it will either be one of my elbows or shoulders. I hate it! But it happens! Oh well! I guess I'm not training this whole week coming up! But I will do legs.

Hey Carth just a random thought here but could this be a pinched nerve? I have had a ton of problems with pinched nerves in my shoulders and back and it always comes on in the night when i sleep or lay wrong. Just a thought, I be you have looked at every possibility by now though. Good luck man.

Well...about 1 hour before going to bed my shoulder did feel funny. Everytime I moved the arm it had a weird feeling. No pain at all. Just weird. Then all fucking hell broke lose! And I feel like total ass! Taking all these Aleve tabs has made me all wacky. But something I did notice...is that I feel harder for some reason. And I am much more vascular. But remember...I have been popping like 4 tabs of Aleve every 3 hours!!!

LOL...aleve the new oral steroid. Take 16 tabs a day for that more vascular look. :p I just mentioned it because what you described was exactly how I mess up my back about every 3 months or so. Just bam, seering, shooting pain and I feel hot and wierd in a certain limb (usually my right arm) On the flip side I almost always go get a good swedish massage, cuz it is the only thing that can get rid of it. Good luck bro, K for the pain!

Bro, exact thing happened to me on vaca in FL a few years ago. I was at a barefoot waterski school. The first day, I hammered my shoulder all day. It was a bit sore when I got back to the hotel. Woke up in the middle of the night and could not move my arm at all. I could not move my hand more then a few inches from my side. I had a guy do some ultrasound which helped a bit. But ultimatly it was my tendonitis that just majorly flared up and was impinging everything. Aleve is key for now. Get your ass to a good chiro that works with bodybuiders. Be carefull with the painkillers and never touch Nubain! As soon as you can use your wing, get some NPP in ya. Keep us posted.....

Celebrex, Ice, Rest, and goto a massage or muscle therapist! I was out for a month with mine, but was good as new once I was finished!

I have Degenerative Disk Disease. My doctor prescribed Peroxicam. The first day I started feeling better. The second day was amazing. It gets rid of inflamation fast.
There are some sides. I never really noticed them though. One is stomach bleading if you drink. I drank like a madman last summer and never had any problems.

Best of luck

Good answer bro. Sodium Naproxen (Aleve) is great as an anti-inflammatory. In fact, before it was sold OTC as a pain reliever it was perscribed as an anti-inflammatory for some pretty bad injuries. Definately take that and ice. Also a shoulder injury is nothing to fool around with. I would see a doctor but until then...

they can also give you ultesound on the area that is injured which stimulates blood flow to the damaged tissue which speeds up the healing,

For anti-inflammatiry treatment with ultrasound a topical anti-inflammatory called Dexamethasone is applied and absorbed throught the skin through the use of the ultrasound waves. They also apply Lidocane to the area for immedaite pain relief. This would really help you depending on your injury.
