Box Squat videos

I spent today practicing form on box squats and deadlifts, plus a little GPP thrown in for "fun". It is the first time I have ever done box squats.

I'm certain the "box" I'm using is inadequate, although the right height (12 inches) as it seemed that the angle of my shins was okay? I need to fix the lid (it is a container of some sort) so it doesn't give when I sit on it.

Anyway, pick apart my form. There's a lot to fix, I'm sure, and I really want to get this right :)

Well you are CERTAINLY not guilty of not sitting back! lol

You are literaly falling on to that....thing. Control down, break up the eccentric and concentric staying tight, and then up. Other than concentrating on lowering yourself with your hammies UNDER CONTROL, it looks pretty good. :)

Thanks spatts. Feels like I'm butchering them by using that "thing", lol.

When watching the videos that was the first thing I noticed was that I was dropping out of control (you can hear the thud).
 
Yeah, gotta love little running shorts :D

Pants tend to restrict my squatting flexibility and these are super-comfy, if not slightly gay. I was a bit cold though, hence the beanie :D
 
Well...not bad for a starting point.

How wide are your feet?
Are your toes pointed out?
Why not Chucks?

All of these could help you with greater stability while doing box squats...

Make sure that you are using those abs (pushed out) and are sitting back with your butt instead of down...

Feet are very wide. Widest I've ever had them actually. I'll try and get another angle next time. They're pretty comparable to a powerlifting stance, maybe a little bit more narrow. Toes were pointed out.

I'm looking into getting some Chucks. Will it be a problem that my feet roll inwards a long way? I've also got the widest feet the world has ever seen...
