I try not to0 do it since i feel that you arch your back to get the bar going and are eccentually cheating yourself....

Yes. The more you arch your back, the more you rely on other than chest muscles to push up the weight. Many people do it because it makes the weight easier to lift, but like LS says, you're cheating yourself doing it that way.

Well then again If youre powerlifting that is the whole purpose.. To press as much weight as possible without using your pecs as the primary muscle.....
