Bodybuilding and tattoos?

Dedication777

I'm assuming you cannot body build with tattoos?
Iv been serious in lifting weights for quite some time now, but Iv had tattoos sense 16 years old lol.. Will this ruin my idea of wanting to become a body builder?

no...they can be covered and Ive seen them go uncovered
between protan, dermablend and various other things you could make them vanish

If you are just competing for your enjoyment and to challenge yourself it really doesn't matter...judges won't dock you points for ink, and like shirlene said between Protan, MT2, and hitting the tanning booth precontest, as well as posing oil...they will not show much on stage under the lights. I will be competing and I am sleeved...and eventually will have a nice back piece as well...I love ink, and it is an art that adds to who you are.

Its a lot more widely accepted now, but I would get them in moderation. Having a couple moderately sized ones wouldn't hurt, and like said they can be covered if need be.

I have 3 of them and may get more. I also plan on competing next year.

I have an owl on my chest, 2 sleeves, and a full back piece...it's a lot of ink, and it just reminds me that when competition time comes, I just need to be in that much better shape. I'm sure they won't help me win anything, but I'll be damned if someone tells me I "CAN'T" because I have em.

From the research I've done, they do seem to be much more tolerated these days.

somebody imbed this video for me...for some reason I can never get the youtube wraps to work for me

the stuff is water proof, shower proof (soap etc) and doesn't rub off....it lasts for several days

Dermablend Tattoo Cover - YouTube

I have one arm sleeved, the rest of me isn't covered...and again, as conditioned and dialed I will be for my competition...they won't be able deny me...plus yes I will be dark as hell between MT2, Protan, and tanning...and with the oil you are right, you won't be able to really tell from the audience.

You can still be a bodybuilder,,,how far you go on the sport is usually up to the judges if your going to compete.
Some judges will mark down,,,some will not,,,I've also seen guys and gals get some cover work before a show and You
could barely see them.

There are pros out there with tattoos look at Andy Haman it's all about your body if you have the body then it really won't matter

What do you want to do bro...bodybuilding or physique? If you are going to do either, it would be good for you to find someone local who knows all about competing, posing (which you will find out is the hardest part of getting ready for a competition) and knows each of the poses, and can assess your physique and give you some constructive critique as to what you should work on, and areas for improvement...we all have them!!! There is so much more to it than walking on stage bro, it's not just about going in and signing up...otherwise you can look pretty silly up there. Youtube some mandatory poses, also posing routines because you will be doing both!

Check this out...

And I know it ain't no cake walk lol, but I'm prepared, I may have to get gyno surgery first, but then I'm set!
Judges don't want to see no flappy titty.

Man it worked when I previewed it...it was Branch Warren. Anyway, physique is more modeling in board shorts, some minor posing...bodybuilding is full blown posing, flexing, and fucking hardcore! Can't wait for my next competition!

Well before reading this thread I considered that it was no problem that tatoos with body building. But here after reading the conversations I assume that they effect your muscles. My friend was looking some good tatoos of his arms but now I will suggest him to don't make any tatoo on his arms... Thanks

Just gonna throw my two sense in cuz i have quite a few large pieces and have been debating with this myself...While there are Pros with tattoos I think it is really based on judges personal opinions. Im making my decision to cover mine up based on someone I recently saw at the gym..He walked by me and I thought to myself whoa that guys arms are ripped!! He walked by me again the other way and he had a sleeve on that arm, I noticed barely any muscle definition and was shocked at the different perception. IMO depends where the tats are...

It depends where they are as well. Side thigh chest is ok but on arms its going to hide some separation.

If you're quite heavily inked then go for a very dark tan when competing. Just what ive been told from a friend who competes as an amateur. He was told this by the judges
