Body Fat Scales

I understand that Body fat scales, impediance testing, is not very accurate. What im wondering though, is, can it be accurate in the changes in body fat percentage...so while mine says 16% which isnt close to accurate, if it in 2 weeks says 15.6% will this be an accurate .4% drop in BF%?

Most BF scales aren't too accurate, especially for body builders. The thing they ARE good for is monitoring changes in the body. The trick to that is be consistent when measuring yourself. Do it at the same time every day and monitor how much liquid you've taken in before-hand.

On that note, I suggest you do it early in the morning, first thing when you wake up, before you eat or drink anything. And, of course, keep track of your progress.

Here's an article:

peace.

I have a tanita scale. It sucks. It has read that I am 24-26% bodyfat for about a year now. My handheld accumeasure scales are telling me 14-15%.

I have a Tanita scale also....when I use it in the am, after a potty trip, no food or drink, it measures that I am 29-35% bodyfat....which is waaaayyyy off (I'm 135 and a size 8). In the afternoon it has consistently measured 24% forever no matter what my weight is....

Electric impedance measurers are absolutely useless. Not so much because they are inaccurate - that is not a big problem in and of itself - but because they are highly inconsistent. You can check yourself three times in one hour with only minor changes within yourself - a glass of water here, a change of clothing there, etc), and receive three very inconsistent readings.

Only test your bf one a month, same time of day. It's more accurate that way...your best bet is at the hospital in the dunk tank...that's 100% right on.
