it's all about the money now. . .

you know what really blows my mind, steve-o?? the fact that the nba still has an audience. . .the best and the brightest among their stars has had their assess handed to them on the international scene too many times to count now. . .by teams that might have one former nba player on it. . .yet muh-fugger's are still paying heeuugggee money for court-side seats to lakers games. . .explain that shit to me. . .imho, the nba is just the wwe with a friggin' basketball. . .shit. . .if you're going for pure entertainment value, streetball is a hell of a lot more entertaining. . .at least they don't try to make like they're legit. . .

The athleticism is unparalleled in basketball in the US. There's no question that we produce high flying physical thoroughbreds. We by far have the best athletes when it comes to the sport. It's not even close
HOWEVER, europeans, argentina etc have closed the gap considerably. Their biggest asset being that they are very fundamentally developed unlike the US.

You know why the US has gotten their asses kicked aside from this past year's team? Really simple. Has very little to do with talent

1.) our best players haven't gone in years. We've had a make shift roster
2.) The composition of our team hasn't been very good. We've been taking pieces that don't neccessarily fit
3.) The other countries olympic/international teams have been together for years and have played with each other to develop chemistry. The NBA players get shuffled together with a random cast and are expected to be cohesive after a few weeks of practice, with a coach most have never played under? You could mask that when you have Jordan, bird, magic, barkley, etc but not when you have a a few superstars by modern day standards mixed with a bunch of "pretty good" all stars.

The NBA has become alot more international, but you'll be damn sure the lebrons, kobes, etc will continue to originate from the US with your occasional steve nash/dirk/yao

bah. . .we've sent a pretty damn good team (by nba standards) to face teams that, in most cases, haven't even seen an nba game, let alone had an opportunity to play in one and we've lost. . .you can slice it up anyway you want but, at the end of the day, all the "high flying" bullshit looks good on highlight films but it doesn't win games. . .the nba is a farce. . .

did you just skip over the entire part about me discussing team chemistry and the USA team's inopportunity to build it, or do you just pretend not to acknowledge it?

like i said, these euro/argentine teams have played together for years. It's a big thing for them. We just draw up a roster with talent, stick them together for a couple of weeks and give them a coach 90% of them have never played for.

It's like assembling a hyped version of the knicks roster and putting them on the floor :(

chemistry > talent alone anyday

Umm, except the players that spend most of the year in the NBA, like Ginobli, who's team won it a couple years ago. There are PLENTY of international players in the NBA.
