Big Legs

My legs are naturally strong and when I started lifting seriously they responded quickly to squats. I was squatting 185 for 10-12 reps and 205 for 3 reps and my quads went from the 21-22 inch range to 24 inches (Over 3-5 years) My husband liked the "thick" look and thought my legs looked muscular. But like most women I only saw big. I cut my squatting to every other week. I do not use more than 135lbs but I still work my legs hard--nothing burns calories like a good leg workout. My legs are down to 23 inches (right) and 22.5 inches (left)--this took 2 years. Not where I would like them to be, but better. At 42 I think I have to accept that I am built thick in the lower half...at least it is mostly muscle and not fat.

Experiment a little with less weight and higher reps or only working legs every 10-14 days. And for the butt--my eternal battle--there are three words....diet, diet and diet.

24 inches is huge on a girl!!! Do you have any pics? Gotta see what that looks like. Must have sucked for buying jeans and such.
 
I'm not going for too much bulk on my legs either, but I do like to keep my legs & body feminine, I'm naturally thin, but never had skinny legs.
I do lighter weight higher reps, and it works well for me.
 
Well, I happen to like the "big" leg look on women (even more on men LOL), and am trying to grow me some big ole sexy legs. Luckily, I know from past experience that I can get those massive thighs I am aiming for, I was a sprinter in school :) Back then (don't ask when please) I was told that they looked "manly" and I spent a long time trying to shrink them...they shrank when I went to basic training and had to learn to run for distance rather than speed, and through the heavy conditioning they force on you :) Good luck getting your legs where you want them, and I agree that overtraining them will help break down the muscle fibers, but it won't happen overnight.

I don't know about everybody else, but when my thighs were only 2 inches smaller around than my waist I was very happy....and I wouldn't even mind them being even closer :) Small waist and massive thighs....yep, I want that.

Yep chika you got that dead to rights. Female Speed skater thighs. That is pure SEXY!

Not much on posting picks, but I have gotten them down to the 22 inch range. I love to squat and was doing 185/10reps, but I do 115-135 range now or my legs will get big quick. Having three babies didn't help either.
