Best source of protein for breakfast?

Which is the better source of protein to have with oatmeal and fruit for breakfast:
Whey powder or egg whites?

whey is a faster digesting protein than egg whites, which is ideal for breakfast, due to the catabolic state your body is in from sleeping, but most prefer "real food" as opposed to shakes. For time restraints whey would be fine though.

The reason I ask is this:

Whey is a fast absorbing protein and most BBs only consume whey post-workout. At breakfast, after a long fast, wouldn't a fast absorbing protein such as whey be more ideal than a slow absorbing protein such as egg white? Or am I on the wrong track here?

Alternatively, would using both whey powder AND egg whites at breakfast be a good idea to provide a good mix of slow and fast absorbing proteins?

Your thoughts?

If you're combining the whey with oats, the absorption rate will be lowered considerably anyway.... So I'd say you're good to go with a combination of proteins.

actually i believe eggs whites are pretty quick digesting. like somewhere around 30 mins, which is slow compared to whey but still pretty quick.

Thanks for the advice...

(Sorry 6_pak, I hadn't read your post before I posted mine)

How do all the proteins rank in terms of the speed at which they are digested?
I know whey is the fastest and casein is the slowest. But how does albumen (egg-white) compare to animal products such as meat, fish, etc?

Both can be used

I prefer Egg whites though
