Best Shaver for the face?

sacto

New member
My wife let me know that my Father's Day gift would be a new shaver. I just need to let her know which one. I have looked around, but the best research is from experience. Anyone have a favorite style & brand or thoughts on which ones to stay away from? I have never been able to man up enough and use a blade. So I will stick with electric. Current is a Norelco Lift and Cut. I change the blades at least once a year but I don't think it does a very good job. Thanks guys.

It is pretty hard to beat a gillette Mach3, or their new 5 blade version. Both work great, best out there in my opinion.

I have a coarse beard and shave everyday or eod if I can get away with it. There is no electric blade that I have found that even comes close to multiple blade razors. I feel like a million bucks when i go against the grain and get a nice smooth shave. But you can not beat the convenience with a quick electric shave. Sorry to not give advice about electric but I hate them.

I don't really like them either. I would rather not have to shave at all. I get a 5:00 by noon anyway. I have never shaved with a blade. I was under the impression that you don't shave against the grain though.

I have both the Mach 3 Power and th Fusion Power. I actually prefer the Mach 3 for my face and the Fusion for my..............well, maybe I should save that part for BTS! :chomp:

try women's gillette venus, it works very well, he he

Get the gillette fusion battery powered. I had terrible problems with razor burn under my neck. The battery powered fusion fixed it.

I like how well the Fusion works but the blade head is bulky and not good, IMO, fo the tight areas, like under the nose.

I started using my Fusion for the...nether region, and now can't seem to get myself to use it on my face anymore. LOL!

And yeah, I heard the same about that Schitt Quatro

I have the braun self cleaning that I use when I'm really in a hurry. It's ok when you have new blades in it but doesn't compare to a blade shave. Let me know what you choose and how you like it. It's 06, they should be able to make and electric that can compare by now right?

For electrics, that Braun is the best I've tried. I don't use it often but it works in a pinch, like when you're on your way to work and your running late.

the norelco advantage shaver, the one that squirts the conditioning gel out of the head, works well for me. it gets me 99% as close as a mach without the razor burn and red bumps under my neck that i get from a mach.

Exactly! You would think that they could get it right by now.

Anybody use the Norelco, Braun or Panasonic shavers? I have been reading reviews and there are tons of pro and con reviews about them. I would like to hear from some real people who use them.

Mach 3 turbo works best for my face when its kinda shaggy. If i let it grow out for 3+ days and try to use my fusion it pulls instead of cutting, even with new blades. So i use both mach 3 turbo and fusion, fusion has a super clean cut.

Electric fusion here. Been with Gillette since the Sensor. That became the sensor XL, the Mach 3, the Mach 3 turbo, and now the fusion.

I shave twice each morning - once with the grain and then a second time against it. I don't look like I shaved if I don't do both. And then if I am going out that evening I have to do it again.

I have very thick, course, and fast growing hair on my face.

Still haven't found what I am looking for! Got a raincheck to try to figure it out. Can't bring myself to do the blade thing. Got to go electric.

Try the new fusion. It has 5 blades and is awesome. of course, I don't shave my face, but my fiance does, and he loves it.

Alright. So the concensus is blade. What type of shaving cream do you use? I have never shaved with a blade before. I have no idea what to do and how to do it.....I kind of feel like a neebie moron since I am 32!

Well, I use men's shave gel on my legs pretty often. Once again, I like the fusion gel, but I don't think there is a huge difference beween brands. Just get the kind that is gel form and then goes white instead of the old fashioned kind that comes out of the can white. I use the battery powered fusion on my legs. It is way better than the Gillete sensor that I used to swear by.

Also, my face has always had acne problems. So it is sensitive. I have it under control right now, but I am worried about the bumps and possible ingrown hairs, etc. Any tricks?

I shave against the grain first, then with the grain after.

If you have sensitive skin, try using a shave gel/cream with Aloe in it, heard it helps.

Good move on not getting an electric. I only use my electric when my hair is real long before i use the blade to finish up.
Shaving creame on my face seems to be all the same, when your hairs long just use a bit extra. I have pretty thick hair too, so any creame will do, i spend cheap on shaving creame and buy some extra tuna.
One thing that i have noticed is i sometimes have tiny breakouts when i dont shave for a while, i actually think it works well at exfoliating(sp?) and never breakout when i am constantly shaving.
Shave with the grain first then against if your face is sensitive. Good Luck

thanks buddy!

gillette fusion electric and non electric for the most superior shave. i have the toughest beard to shave with very sensitive skin and it works great.
