I prefer a full casein product, I think I started and liking dymatize micellar casein whey. Pricey but I like it cause it gets nice and thick and I like to make protein pudding and just eat it like that. Very filling. I eat at night right before bed or when I want to eat dessert.
I keep regular whey and isolate on hand too for mixing into things like oatmeal, regular shakes. For me I try to volumize anything I do with the powder so rarely do I just mix power and liquid to drink. I still like to add something like a half tsp of xanthan gum to really make the shake thick and blend it with ice cubes.
So I guess my answer is the best protein is the type that allows you to do with it what you want that tastes how you need it to.
