best glutamine on the market???

Glutamine peptides are bunk.

1) Single amino acids are absorbed just as well if not better than di- or tri-peptides. Most peptides are broken down into individual aminos anyway, rendering the point moot.

2) By weight glut. peptides are very low in glutamine.

This is what I have concluded after researching the issue and consulting with my doctor.

That said as far as I can tell glutamine is glutamine. I shop by price and found schwartzlabs for like $35 a kilo which I thought was a good deal. Can't remember the place.

Then...how come many people on this board say Glutamine Peptide is more effective than just Glutamine or L-Glutamine?

yea what are you saying bro, L-glutimine is better? I always thaught the peptides were the way to go!!

First of all, I have tried both and not really seen any results from either.

I honestly feel that if your diet is very protein rich, (1g per lb bw/day), you are getting more than enough glutamine.

Therefore I don't do either.

BUT, if you DO insist on taking glutamine, the science and economics behind it really point towards glutamine, if only becase the cheapest glutamine and the cheapest glutamine peptides are about the same price, yet the glutamine peptides have at most 1/3 of the glutamine in pure glutamine (though it's probably more like 16% or so). There is no evidence either that the glutamine in glutamine peptides is absorbed three times better. If anything the evidence says pure glutamine is absorbed more efficiently.

PS use the search function, you will find everything I have read and much more I'm sure.

Price

I've spoken with a few distributors and manufacturers of
L-Glutamine, and the going rate is around $20/kg.
in 25-50kg quantities. Chinese or Korean made.
$35/kg is a good retail price.

TAG - isn't it a peptide glutamine?
If so... then according to our friend joncrane "Glutamine peptides are bunk." If it's not a peptide...:bawling: my mistake then.

Glutamine Peptides are not bunk. Either Glutimine or the peptides shouldn't be left out of your supplementing. Just as much as creatine is a proven supplement, so is glutimine.

glad to see you are backing up your claims with evidence bro, way to go.

As far as TAG, I have read an article about it but I am not sold on it. As far as I know it is pretty expensive. I believe that even if it is better the higher price probably doesn't justify it. Just get the cheap glutamine and take more of it if you want more in your system.

On a side note Patrick Ramsey is looking like a shell-shocked rookie. 3 plays: sack, sack, interception

LOL

What do i need to back up glutimine for? Its practically common knowledge.... Get a pro tip bro...

I don't know if you go to any shows or follow pro-bodybuilding but they'll all tell you off the record, their 3 do's they never leave out are protien, creatine, glutimine as their Pro-tip.

Each pro has their own way of training. Do you have any references in scientific journals, preferably peer-reviewed?

Just because a pro does it, I'm not doing it. You don't see me injecting 15 IUs of GH a day do you? I hope you don't either.

All I know is that I used it and didn't notice much of a difference.

JC

I do have references for glutimine. i'll have to look through some of my stuff but yes i do. i've read multiple researches on it. I'll post something on it.

i don't think glutimine directly will show you much benefit. i think it plays more of a role in aiding your other nutritional aspects. like helping your body shuttle protein into the muscles, and recovery, that sorta thing. but just adding glutimine alone i agree, you wont see much benefit of it.

I have probably read most of the studies you have. Most revolve around parenteral nutrition, meaning basically mainlining glutamine. It supposedly heps people recover from grievous trauma and surgery better.

I remember they were giving it to my dad when he was real sick. Right into his vena cava.

Unfortunately very few studies are done on people who stir up 10 g of the powder and swill it down.

As far as how it helps I saw a cogent article that said it is most useful in maintaining muscle mass while cutting.

Guess what? GLutamine is the most abundant AA in human muscle. Guess what else? It is also the most abundant AA in animal muscles.

Therefore by my reasoning between all the chicken and steak I eat I ought to be fine.

I am definitely not hurting since I stopped as a matter of fact I have gained 12-13 pounds.

~I'd say about 8 in my cock and 2 in each of my balls.

point well taken.

maybe some respond better to it than others. maybe you eat better than most too. thats the problem with most supps they are close to impossible to prove what they actually do. in turn we get scammed.

hey, every little bit helps, granted your not gonna put on 10lbs of lean muscle from glutamine, but it certainly will not hurt you, if anything its beneficial.. i for one have noticed the difference in post-workout recovery, however, that is me and all bodies are different :o

You're right. 99% of the info we have is FROM supplement companies. I mean look at r-ALA and ulter.

Fonz even says racemic ALA lowers blood sugar more than r-ALA. Do you think ulter spreads that around? No. He just cuts and pastes the same set of 6 quotes from doctors saying how much better the R-version is.

Hey anyways I'm glad we agree. I hope whatever you do and whatever path you take that you accomplish your goals.

Thanks buddy,

Likewise. I think we can all help eachother out and these boards can help us reach those goals. From what i've learned... you gotta appreciate a skeptic. you never know when they may open your eyes.

Thanks bro. Good luck to you as well.
