Hey all

i have got a problem with my breakfast meals.....up until now i have been heeding to advice given, and every breakfast i have been eating oats.

Recently i have been less tolerant and yesterday i just threw it up....my system isnt tolerating it anymore........

Same thing is happening as it did with the tuna...my stomach stopped tolerating it....

I need some advice as to a good breakfast alternative? any ideas would be much apreciated!

People seem to be very knowledgable on here and i always get good advice

Thanks

Take some slices of lean turkey breast and scramble them up with 6 egg whites. Very tastey.

If you are trying to add oates to your diet, here are a few ideas. If you eat cereal, add your oates to your cereal. They are very good this way.

If you drink a protein shakes, try this- 1 tablespoon of All Natural Peanut Butter, I scoop of chocolate protein powder, a scoop of oates, and your liguid (I use light soy milk). Shake it all up and drink. This is very tastey and filling.

I have also tried adding the oates to the scrambled eggs. It's allright, but it is much easier and it taste a lot better to add them to a shake or cereal.

As far as tune goes, How do you usually make it? I have a few tuna recipes that are very good. Let me know. I hope this helps.

Hey partagus

thanks...they actually sound nice..especially the turkey and eggs

as for tuna well i had been eating it just by itself....i know its silly

but was never a tuna eater....did it for few months and almost gagged a few times

if you have some recipes you can throw my way i would be very greatful

apreciate your help and ideas

Here are a few ways to eat tuna:

Use a tble spoon or two of fat free mayo or miracle whip and some salt & pepper. Serve on bread, or rolled in alow carb tortilla with lettuce and tomatos

If you are eating pasta you can add it to the pasta and toss with fresh basil, parsley and a little olive oil. (Watch the oil intake as it is %100 fat)

Make a salad and mix the tuna with the fat free mayo or fat free dressing and add to the salad

Mix tuna with a little pepper or your favorite Mrs. Dash seasoning and a little vinigar

Spend the extra $1.00 and buy the whole tuna filet in a can and then heat it up and serve it with rice and veggies

A friend of mine would make tuna omlettes, I would not try this

Tuna Tacos-take a package of taco seasoning and mix with two cans of tuna and heat up. Serve on low carb tortillas with fresh tomatos and lettuce

Two cans of the whole tuna filet, season with lemon pepper seasoning, heat up and serve with a large side of broccli.

A lot of this depends on what you are eating and not eating. Some people will not eat bread while they are cutting and some others will only eat whole grain bread. Tuna takes flavors pretty well, so experiment with different seasonings that you like until you find one you can tolerate.

Hollow out a tomato. Mix a can of tuna with fat free mayo and fill the tomato up. Serve chilled.

You can always make your own tuna helper. Use some low carb pasta and different seasonings to come up with what you like. This also works well with ground chicken, turkey and beef. If you make your own stuff, you can control the fat/carbs/protein that goes into it. Let me know if this helps.

Barley is the next best grain (also high in beta gluten, and low GI). You could try this instead of oats. Other grains such as wheat tend to be low in insouble fibre and therefore medium/high GI. It is up to you whether this higher GI bothers you, as there is mixed evidence in regards to its significance.

Next alternative is to simply make cooked breakfast - sometimes I will have sweet potatoes with either tuna/salmon/chicken breast.

I like barley as well. Add it to some homemade soup and it's tastey. I also like it in beer, which is counter-productive to a diet....

Well, if you can stand the taste, the most ripped Ive been in my life I ate kashi go lean every morning, followed by egg whites, usually scrambled. The kashi tastes a bit better if you cut up bananas and put it in.

i think breakfast should have a good mix of carbs and protein...you want to end the catabolic state from sleeping as soon as you wake up so I think some carbs are a must. I usually go with a banana, half cup of grapefruit juice, and 8 raw eggs (2-3 whole, 6 whites) (and my multi, of course).

I know it sounds pretty Rocky-like, but the raw eggs aren't bad. Personally, I don't like the taste of cooked eggs all that well. Raw eggs don't taste like anything (unless you break the yoke in your mouth, and that can be a little "off") - it's the texture that takes a little getting used to. I usually save my oatmeal for mid-morning. Sometimes I'll add blueberries or raspberries to the oatmeal to make it more interesting.

The body doesn't assimilate protein from raw eggs, they need to be cooked or pasteurized. You're wasting your time...

That's not true. The protein in raw eggs is about 50% bio-available, wherease the protein in cooked eggs is about 90%. 8 eggs gives me about 26 grams of useable, absorbable protein. I try to get 30-40g of protein every 2-3 hours.

here's the breakfast concoction that I've been throwing in the blender for the past few weeks:

5 oz of water
1.5 scoops of whey protein
1/4 cup of ground raw almonds (when you get back from the grocery w/ the raw shelled almonds, throw them in the blender to grind them into a powder)
1/4 cup of the hudson mills 7 grain hot cereal grounded into a finer powder
1 tbsp organic honey - good enzymes
1 tbsp of lecithin granules

blend that into a mix, then add in 4-5 ice cubes and blend again.

The way I make it, it turns out to be around 500 calories, but you can tweak this to fit your caloric intake limits for that meal.
