All these abcess stories are getting to me. All juicers no matter newbie or pros will eventually get fucked over by an abcess. with all these injections , abcesses are bound to happen to one of us. which antibiotic are best for treating abcesses?

pretty much any antibiotic will help, but i would stick with the *cillins, i cant remember exactly why, but it was just posted recently to stay away from the *cyclines while on.

MRSA (staph) is most likely the cause. I had that shit and it was awful. I had to get ciprox to get rid of it and doctors don't like to prescribe that. They've been told not to give out antibiotics liberally but these idiots take it too literally sometimes and don't give it out when you in fact need it.

I don't think too much of doctors btw. They are by and large quacks for the most part.

I had 3 abscess and all of them had the same bacteria inside: staphyloccus
The bacteria create resistance to the antibiotic so its better if u dont use the same antibiotic again or used only twice. I had 3 abscess cause when I took the antibiotic was too late...now u ask yourself: "ok, the first time he didnt know what an abscess was like but the second time and third time he should feel the abscess coming and should have taken antibiotics right away" Well, I did take the antibiotic right after I felt was an abscess and that was 3 days after the injection but still the antibiotic didnt kill. But after these 3 abscess I almost had other 2 abscess and these 2 I controlled with anitibiotics. I can send u a PM later to let u know which antibiotics I used.

Oral anti biotics won't do shit to prevent an abcess accept increase it's resistance to that particular antibiotic. For some reason the abcess blocks it from being able to penetrate the infection. You need an injectable anti biotic to give it the quick kill and then follow up with something like Cephlexin. Also, I wouldn't go so far as to say everyone will eventually get an abcess. I used mexican shit gear for over 10yrs and never had a bad injection. In fact, my abcess was a direct result of repeatedly injecting synthol in the same spots-anyone that's done this knows it makes you feel like the human pin cushion. Synthol is shit anyway. Using it is one of my few RX regrets.

Another thing to keep in mind is that most bacteria in injectable AS is transmitted from the stopper into the solution when you poke through it with a needle(preferably an unused one-a used one will just increase the bacteria even more). Therefore larger multi dose vials can be contaminated a lot easier than using smaller dose vials or Amps. Also water based injectables seem to be more abcess prone since they often require daily or EOD injections. Take extra care to alcohol the stoppers of water based solutions for this reason.

I'm glad you pointed that out.

I homebrew my stuff and I have realized that the large vials get abused more (more pins through the rubber) and this is dangerous. A practice I have developed is when I make a big batch I break it down into 5ml and 10ml vials (and refilter again) to lower the chances of having to stick a 50ml vials 20+ times. I'd rather spend the extra $5 for a filter and $1 for a 5ml sterile vials and be safe.

Swabbing the rubber stopper before an inject is a must too.

Also, this is an excellent thread! Great replies above.

I think one of the mods here says he only pokes his stopper once-and leaves the needle inserted for the purpose of "loading only" w/o ever removing it until the bottle is empty. He'd fill the body of the syringe for the injection, unscrew it, and replace it with a fresh needle to shoot with. He would then replace the body of a fresh syringe on the needle in the bottle as a cap and to use for his next shot. This seems pretty anal to me-but with 20 cc or larger vials I think it's a good idea. It surely can't hurt.

It does seem anal but the last batch of EQ I made had rubber in it after only one insert with an 18g needle. I had to refilter everything. (I use 23g for everything now) It may have been just a bad rubber seal but I can see the point of not wanting to keep plunging it in and out. Especially if there is bacteria on the surface and the person doesn't wipe the rubber for each use.

Swabbing the stopper doesn't even guarantee you're removing 100% of the bacteria either. In fact I think the friction across the stopper actually kills more bacteria than the alcohol does. It just seems that water based drugs are a little more messy and are more likely to dribble on the outside of the stopper creating more bacteria than usual.

Usually, abscess are treated with Bactrim or Doxycycline. Once the head is formed, there is a layer of hardened pus under the skin. Thius has to be I and D'd, or Incision and Drainage. The top is numbed with Lidocaine injections, and then cut open with a scalpel. The inside hardened pus has to be broken up, which can be extremely painful. If antibiotics alone are used, it is usually not enough without the I and D. Then the wound is packed with Iodaform guaze, and must be changed out every couple of days so that the wound heals from the inside out.

The thing about abscess is that they grow RAPIDLY! One day it may be a small pimple or red spot, and the next be a full blown abscess. MRSA is Methacillin Resistant Staphlacoccus A. It is very nasty. This crap is everywhere. People who do not do injections come in with these all the time. I am talking about 5 a day minimum in the ER I work in. It is very easily spreadable! It will live on surfaces for quite some time. If you or someone in your house has an abscess, you need to wash everything! It is very common to see friends, family members, or lovers come in with these after one person has had one.

And you do not take antibiotics prevenatively. That is how resistant strains are created. Well that and not finishing a full prescription of antibiotics when given one.

Lots of abcesses are caused by Staph, but this can be avoided very easily. Remember almost everyone has staph on their skin, and if your skin remains intact and unbroken staph is relatively harmless. Its when you give staph the opportunity to invade your body, does it become dangerous and start punching holes in your flesh. The best way to avoid this is to be clean when you inject.

Buy Alcohol swabs and betadine swabs, I use alcohol swabs and Hydrogen peroxide. First make sure your body is clean, next swab with either betadine or hydrogen peroxide first, then swab with alcohol second. Make sure you swab the tops of your bottles with alcohol everytime before inserting the needle to draw out your injectable. If you keep the area you inject clean, you shouldn't be getting staph infections from injecting.

Also know that you shouldn't be injecting a water based and oil based injectables together in the same syringe, this is another way to give yourself an abcess.

Remember when you heard the term "Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness"? Keep it in the back of your head when injecting things into your body, and you won't find yourslef with some infection boring holes in your body!

Sweet looking red nose in your avatar bro. Probably the best anti home theft deterrent you can have this side of booby trapping the doors with a shotgun.

I had MSRA, that stuff sucks. It took a while to get rid of it. 40 days total of leviquin 750 mg per day, three days in the hospital with Iv zosyn, and a 2.5 inch deep cut in my ass. Not fun.Good info Bro.

Cipro got rid of it for me. I had 3 different abcesses and once I took the cipro the shit went away.

MRSA IS BAD BAD STUFF.

gawd...40 freakin days! What the hell did you shoot? How many cc's? How long did you wait before going to see a doc?

What ever you take make sure you take your full perscription. if you dont take your full perscription you will put yourself at great risk of the bac. becoming resistant.

After my first abscess I made sure I was cleaning my skin VERY well with alcohol and Betadine but still I ended up having 2 more abscess.
Beside staph bacteria, what else can form an abscess? 6 months ago I was injecting EOD on my shoulders and one day when I finish injecting I had pus coming out of the site of the injection. Came out blood mixed with pus but I had no pain at all. I stopped injecting on that shoulder and the pu went away. As far as I know pus means infection but although I had pus I didnt have a single sign of abscess like pain, redness, fever etc. How can this be explained?

I know what you mean. I've worked around people with Staph for years. The scary thing is, even the Infectious Disease Specialist only have a handful of meds that combat MRSA and VRSA. The rest of the time they practice medicine on people. Im not kidding when I say this, I've heard the Infectious Disease Doc tell people to bath in a mild bleach solution(Do Not Try This Without Medical Supervision) Its all trial and error with infectious disease. Thats why its so important to wash your hands and clean injection sites and bottle tops prior to injecting.

Staph is very tricky. If you are having numerous outbreaks of staph. You have to almost be a detective to determine how and where your becoming infected. Very difficult! You must never wear clothes more than once, never use the same bath towel twice, never share toiletries, scrub your entire living area with some type of disinfectant. Hygiene is the key to keeping staph infections down. But then again Staph A also lives in your nose, so even if you do all this ultra hygiene, you sneeze, hold your hand over your mouth, and then scratch yourself and break the skin with that hand, you can start the process all over again.

As for injecting EOD and still getting an abcess, their are numerous bacteria that could be the culprit, its difficult to say without the wound being cultured. After all an abcess is a pocket of puss which is basically dead tissue, bacteria and white blood cells. They could be caused by the injectable solution your using or again by foreign bacterial invasion into your body. I've seen IV drug users who quit using IV drugs develope abcesses even though they haven't injected for weeks. The reasons are numerous, its hard to pinpoint one thing or another.
