benched 275 today

my previous (slightly assisted double) was 235 after a few months of doing the standard bb split, trying to push it up little by little from 185.
i know you guys push a lot more but i won't lie to you...feels good....
i feel like i could actually achive 315 by the end of the year! Awww yeah!!

congrats, 275-300 was the hardest barrier for me to pass yet. i have hit 330 myself and that one was the roughest. actually the only way i got over it finally was 5x5 program. good luck

good job man. ive been stuck on 5 reps of 225 for a while now....cant up it for some reason (until i start my cycle).

Cool, I thought I was the only one who still was under 300. I was able to get 275 also on Friday, up from 230 7 weeks ago, I was shooting for 280 but just could not get the bar all the way up. My next goal is 350+ before the year is out. Congrats on that, I know how you feel right now.

Every PR is a great achievement. They tell you that whatever you were just doing works and they propel you to choose fresh goals for new PRs.

Congrats and good luck on the next one.

If you can rep 225 5 times you should beable to push 250 once or at least 240! If i bench 225 5 times for every push equals 10 more pounds on the bar.I rated yours for 5 lbs...Set your mind to it you can push it!

275 way to go, hope you taped it...I tape all my big benchs for the chumps that dont believe me :Perk:

Way to Go!!

Try putting 315 on the bar and get it up above you with a little help.
Get used to the feel of it up there ... let it come down an inch and push it back up. Own it.

Couldn't have put it any better myself.

Congrats on the pr.

Congrats! I was stuck at the 225 level for a long time. I can now do 225 for 8-10 reps. I pushed up 255 5 or 6 times on Monday. I'm sure I can get 275. My personal best was 300 (almost those legendary 3 plates per side), but a shoulder injury slowed my progress. In a week or so, I'll either start another 5X5 routine or one of another 2 strength routines to see how they go. I'm hoping for 315 by next Jan.
Keep up the good work!

good job sir, I remember that moment myself - it was back in july '03... took me a long time to get to 315 after that

I don't know what it is, but going from 275 to 315 bench seems the furthest away of all my weight training goals. I think I'll get my squat and dead before my bench.

Sweet grats. 275 is my goal right now. I have been at around 250 for several months now. I haven't been focusing on it a lot, but now I REALLY want to hit it. What routine did you do that helped you increase your bench?? I hear the 5x5 is good, I just do the usual ~10, 7, 5, 2-3 crap right now.

keep it up... just be safe, don't let the ego go to your head. There is nothing worse than thinking you did 315 and all you really did was collapse your rib cage from the bounce. Take it slow and you'll move up in no time

thanks man, no rib bounce here, i read the benching thread in the PL forum, and i keep the form in mind. I pause it just before it touches my chest, hold it for a second no relaxation then tell the bitch "get up off me" and try to accelerate it up. No touch!!! If I had a spotter i would've tried the third rep but I wanna live to see 315 :chomp:

I benched 405 4 years ago while juiced up. Now, 2 surgeries later, I'm pushing 225 for 5 reps. Waaa!Waaa! I feel like crying. Going down is so much worse than being stuck at the same level.

I don't Bench 'a lot' more then you
my current goal is 315 as well
I may get 315 on my next Max attempt
I got 290 for a solid double so I think I'll be a lil shy of the 315 goal
but I do occasionally suprise myself so maybe I'll hit or even clear it in the next 2 weeks or so

since changing my rep range approach ive managed to increase my bench from 220 for several reps to a single of 360 . 330 for reps.ive been incorporating double and single reps into my bench training and the resultant strength increase has been better than i could have wished for.i move up through the weight in singles to my max and beyond stay as close to the highest level for a few more single reps drop the weight then do say approx 3x 6-8 reps to finish.aways adhere to good form
