bench press blocks on your chest

what difference those wooden block make on your chest when you are lifting ? I have seen many guys at my gym doing that, doe it make your bench more intense?

They add a wooden block to their chest to shorten the range of motion. This makes it kind of like a 'half bench press' because you are pressing the bar from 3-5 inches above your chest instead of lowering it completely down to your chest.

The top part of a bench press primary trains your shoulders and triceps. It is the weak point for most benchers because their chest is a larger muscle then your shoulders and triceps. By doing block bench presses, you can focus on increasing strength in your shoulders and triceps.

They are used by the powerlifters to be able to limit the range of motion with resets. It has its own purpose, but not for a bodybuilder Id say

I agree with Jay. I would rather focus on a full range of motion with a weight suitable to perform these reps. It is not worth it to just go super heavy and have poor form. This is an easy way to get injured.

These are meant to reduce the amplitude of the movement, which is supposed to focus the effort to certain muscles. This is something that only the powerlifters usually do, not bodybuilders, so if you are the latter one, this approach barely has any value for you.
