When I first start a training cycle, I do shoot for around 10 pounds more than my previous. All my workouts are % based. But, if I find that I can't keep up with the workouts or they are getting way too easy, then the numbers get readjusted. I'll usually open with a weight that I can do for 3. That way, if I have a bad day, or something else goes wrong, at least I can stay in the meet by getting my opener.
I try to compete every 3-4 mos. I've got this one next month and then I'm hoping to find another in October. Each meet is building for the national meet in January
