This is just after 3 full months of bulking. Gained 15 pounds during that time. Oh boy...I'm nervous! :)

Oh, and...I had just finished doing cardio...that is why I am red!

Not too shabby, Holding a good amount of fat but that should come off nicely, at 165lbs you got a nice amount of muscle on you also.

Your legs are on the leaner side as opposed to your midsection.

Overall you got definite potential.

It's Model1 again Nightfly :)

You have the size. When you start your pre-contest diet you'll start to see more definition in those naturally broad shoulders of yours (and the rest of your body of course~smile!). I know you won't start your diet officially until May 1st. I would just clean up your eating just a little so it's not too "Hardcore" once you start your pre-contest diet.

BTW, why don't you share you're bulking cycle with us? I know you said you gained alot of lean muscle mass. You also kept your bodyfat low (alot of women are 20% BF and over).

Good luck with everything.

IG- yeah, I know I have a lot of fat on top of that. Hopefully, my diet will get rid of it! :) A lot of my stomach is covered with fat, but I don't think it will be that way when I diet down. I hope that my legs won't lose too much size though.

Model1- I bulked for three months. I started at the beginning of Dec. I started at 23% bf. I ate around 180-200 gms of protein per day, and the last month out of the bulking cycle I took cell-tech. It has made me hold a lot of water.

My measurements all went up, and my bf dropped 6%. I was quite pleased with that. I actually gained 13 lbs, I guess cause I started at 152. I need help with my pre-contest diet, though. I am going to shoot you an email and ask you a few questions. I hope you don't mind. I really want to do good in this competition. It will be my first one. I am all natural, so I guess I will have to take the cheat day out and just do a cheat meal or something...or maybe not even cheat at all. Thanks for your imput. I was really nervous posting these, but I figured that I wouldn't get anything out of it if I didn't.

Thanks again!

Nightfly you made really good gains on your bulking cycle. Did you gain more mass in your upper body or lower? Your legs are awesome!

I would love to help you out, no problem. Will you be a middleweight or a heavyweight? Please keep us updated with your progress.

NIGHT FLY WHEN DOING CARDIO DO NOT CUT DOWN THE AMOUNT OF CALORIES THAT YOU ARE CONSUMEING...JUST CLEAN THEM UP...YOU WILL MAINTAIN MORE MUSCLE MASS ASWELL AS CUTT UP NICELY...DROP ME A LINE IF INTRESTED IN A ROUTINE...

Lobo- What exactly did you mean by Ah, la MS???

Thank you...I don't look good right now, but I figured the only way to find out how to look better was to get opinions from people who know how to do this stuff. :)

BIZ...I will be shooting you some mail!

When exactly is your show and for how long are you planning on dieting? 12 or 16 weeks??? What weight and bodyfat do you want to get down to? You've definitely got some wide lats!!! ;) Very cool, definitely got some great potential but I think its going to be incredibly hard to keep muscle on while doing this precontest diet. I know I had a problem w/ that last year and LOST A LOT in the process... It was really hard last year naturally... It was actually very discouraging. I think after this experience you'll change your mind about staying "natural" lol. I can almost guarantee it... Its going to be a serious kick in the ass, its possible but SOOOOOO HARD!!!

Let me know how you plan on working your diet and what kind of cardio are you doing now? We need more details! Hey, how old are ya anyways??? Just curious, I'll be 21 in April and can't til my show in Sept! :) :)

AJ

You have good shoulders. Actually your calves look ok and the fat on your legs shouldn't be too hard to lose. Abs and butt will be harder to lose, but that's hard for all women. What's your cutting diet? when do you start cardio?

I'm joining the chorus--please post your cutting diet, if it's not giving away a trade secret.

Just curious--what kind of a response do you get from civilians (non BBs)? I ask because you look very good, if a tad broad shouldered, for just a regular person, strolling around.

hey lobo...

i haven't seen pics of MS?? Where can I find them? You've got me curious now! :) :)

Okay...well...this is the problem. Since this is my first show, I have no clue as to a good cutting down diet. I was hoping to get some help with that.

I am 20, 5'6", 165 lbs as of now. I wanted to compete somewhere between 135 and 140. I hope this is possible. I have been told that my shoulders, tris, and bis are lacking, so I plan on knocking those workout areas up a bit so I can gain some good mass on them. My show is in Sept. I have 6 months to do this. Right now I have been doing cardio 5 times a week for 30 minutes. I try to get cardio done in the mornings on an empty stomach, but because of school I can't get in there as much as I'd like. So, I usually end up doing cardio at the end of my workout.

I want a strict diet because I am anxious to see how my body will react to it.

AJD- I don't want to use steroids right now...if ever. I know that may sound crazy, but I put on size easily and I am scared as to what those things might do to me. :) I was going to diet for 16 weeks. I don't have much experience and I am training by myself.

Help me out!!!! I need a great diet and some advice on cardio. If the info that I have provided is not enough...let me know and I will be glad to include some more. Thank you all for your help!

I think that you look nice. :)

I'm a bitch! So what! Deal with it! How long did it take for you to figure that out?

Thank you so much for your help! I have checked my mail again and will reply in a while.

I am becoming quite discouraged about this, to be honest with everyone. I went to anabolic fitness and read Fitness Chicks diet post. I never realized how much effort had to be put in to the diet and just how much attention you have to pay to even the "small" things like sweet-n-low.

I am a college student, so I don't have a lot of money to pay for a trainer, but I am afraid that I am going to have to get one. I don't think I can do this diet all by myself. I appreciate the help that everyone is giving me. I hope I can manage!

I am doing a lot of research, too, cause I really want to excel in this.

I think you're looking good. You've got a nice overall shape and proportion for bodybuilding. It's not easy your first time dieting, and you have to be prepared to lose some noticeable muscle. This is why they have a 'novice' class. Even women using AS tend to overdiet their first time, so it's really important that you get that right above all else. For now I second the others. Clean up your diet (but don't drop your calories) and don't overdo the cardio until the real diet begins.

Don't get discouraged!! You are looking good! I particularly like your arms. If you can hold onto that size in your arms when you cut up, I think it will be a very strong point. They told you you are weak in the tri's and bi's? Hmm. I have real good definition in my back, and am weaker in the arms, so of course, I notice that more. Looks good to me! Yeah, it's hard work, but what else is new? You are obviously no stranger to hard work and discipline. You can do it!!! :)

I thank everyone again for their comments/compliments/advice, etc. I struggle with my diet a lot, so it helps to come on here and see other people having problems (not that I am the type of person to get off on other's downfalls...). It just helps me to realize that I am human.

Just to let everyone know...I have someone helping me with my posing already. I want to get that down to perfection (if there is such a thing).

MS--btw...how do you manage to gain muscle while eating clean at the same time? Because I would prefer to stay natural, I would like to know your secret! I will shoot you an email, also, if you don't mind.

Night Fly,

Girl, do not get discouraged!!! Do this for yourself - This is your first time, so just set some realistic goals and expectations for yourself...Also, dont compare yourself to FC - she has been doing this for years and she is probly one of the most dedicated woman in the sport! It all just takes time..You will learn so much about yourself in the next few months.

You really got some awesome reply's and we are pulling for ya! You can do it!! ;)

Keep up the great job NightFly!!

Stay true to yourself and enjoy the learning journey!

Your legs will rock when you get lower bf!! Definately keep working on those bi/tris to compete with those awesome shoulders/lats of yours. Looking very solid!

You have some terrific resources here in terms of women who have done it...Bmom, FC, MS, Hardtail and others.

Dieting/prep for the show is so key. There is a lot of detail so you don't look flat/bloated/smooth etc on the day of competition. I'm not the one to ask as I'm learning too, but the wonderful people here can point you in the right direction!

Keep up the hard work!

There's no secret to gaining muscle while eating clean Night Fly. And it has nothing to do with AS. By keeping your protein intake around 1 gram per lb, and eating mainly complex carbs (whole grains, beans etc...), fresh veggies and vegetable oils you can keep your body in an anabolic state. You just have to eat ENOUGH of these foods, and this is what some people struggle with. Because the food may seem boring (compared to your favorite junk food) it takes a concerted effort to eat 6 or more meals like this every day. The advantage of eating this way is that you will not be tempted to overeat either, which helps keep fat gain minimal. Sure, splurge occassionally just for fun, but now is a good time to start cutting out processed carbs, salt, sugar and sat fats. This is NOT the same as a cutting diet. Don't skimp on calories until you're full swing into dieting.

MS--you have a good point there. I have a tendency to want to skimp on my calories when trying to 'clean' up my diet. I know I do not need to do this, but it is hard for me sometimes. I have gotten better about eating my veggies, though. Are canned ones, okay? I also know yams are a good carb, but how late can I eat those. I have to stay up late (1 am- 3am) because of school sometimes. If I eat my dinner at 8...I am starving by then. What should I eat then?

Luvs2workout- Girl you have really been great to me! I thank you for all your support.

Skydancer- Thank you also. My favorite thing about my body are my legs. I have worked very hard on them, and I cannot wait to see what they look like. I worked them so hard today that I could not even lift them up to do hanging leg raises for my abs! :)

I hope that I can find a diet that is right for me and I appreciate everyone's willingness to help me out. I have to come here to seek support because my parents do not understand why I want to do this at all. Thanks again!

Sweetie - let me tell ya about parents...don't let it shake you up! I am in my late 30's and my mother views it as part of my mid life crisis. Lumps it right in there with my Harley and my tattoo - now that I think of it maybe she's right! The ladies here will take good care of you.

Sorry I'm late looking at picts! You are doing great and at only 20 years old you have quite the head start on many many others. You are a smart girl from what I can tell and you are in the right place for help and encouragement. You will learn so much more here than doing on your own!!!! Diet is very hard believe me I know and still struggle with it. Like I said your youth gives you a head up on most so take advantage of it!!!!!Keep us updated and don't get discouraged you will get there sooner than you think.

DAMN, GIRL! WITH THAT FRAME YOU COULD BE HUGE FOR A CHICK! I'D CONSIDER DOING SOME HEAVY LIFTING FOR SIZE. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T FORGET TO WORK YOUR UPPER BODY. SOME LADIES NEGLECT THEIR UPPER BODY AND GET TOP (ERRRR...BOTTOM I MEANT TO SAY) HEAVY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :)
