Barbell front raises

I have. I used to superset them with upright rows and overhead presses. I do mostly upright rows.

I can see the value in using them for a compound set or superset, but I would prefer one arm Db front raises as a straight set. That being said, I'm with DT on the Upright Rows. I hardly ever do front raises (Bb or Db). Uprights seem to be a better anterior and medial delt exercise IMO.

if you're gonna hit that front head alot, make sure you get the rear with jus as much.

i do cable upright rows supersetted with front raises (cable). dumbells might be better as barbells weigh more and front raises dont require a lot of weight to be effective. but i use cables for them so i can choose any weight i want

The only problem with these are some people experience shoulder pain from them because you are locked into a certain groove....with dumbells they arn't.

If it doesn't hurt your shoulder joint, it is a great exercises.....if it does, stick to dumbells.

I posted before that a lot of people have large front and side delts from benching and stressing them on presses.....like humantarger said, make sure to hit the rears as you don't want an imbalance in strength.....this could lead to shoulder problems down the road.

I personally like barbell and plate work for the anterior delts.

Isn't it a rotator cuff killer ?

I find it can be really hard to keep good form with this (not arching the back) b/c there is just too much weight in front. I tend to stay away from it.

Do them with dumbells whilst sitting on a bench to avoid cheating, its very easy to start swinging the weight up and not realize it, kinda like what that guy is doing in the ainimation in that link... hardly a good example.
