bad food and strength

Up until last week I was eating pretty clean, with a cheat meal once a week. But for the past week I have been eating junk food, like pizza and calzones etc. (I guess I just had to fulfill my cravings) But the weird thing is, my strength has gone up. How is this possible? Shouldn't it have went down with me eating junk food?

Keep in mind that my strength has been pretty steady for the past month up until this point.
 
Just make sure that you are getting enough prot and carbs...

I eat a lot of junk...but I also eat a lot of clean foods too.

Probably storing more water...and that aids in strength gains.
 
My ex training partner used to live on a diet of Mars bars and coke and he was strong as all F**k and grew like a weed. Kinda makes a mockery of the overstated value of nutrition to bodybuilding. Sure, it's important, but i think it has been overplayed for too long now.

When it's all said and done, what you do in the gym will make you or break you in my opinion.
 
Juynk days and even an occaisonal junk week is beneficial, as long as you do it infrequent, it will boost your hormone production, however, if you do it often or for too prolonged time, you risk insuline insensitivety and sugars will store as fat and hormone production will decline.

I guess you "mars" friend has a superior insuline regulation, but even he can fell prey to insuline resistance some day, so I wouldn't follow him , I would say, have a junk week every 6 weeks (when you also change to a new routine) Combined these will give your body enough stimuli to store most junk as muscle glycogen.
 
why do people tihnk pizza is so bad? Is it the saturated fat or what? I made pizza a big part of my diet, eating one every other day. Not only did my strangth go up but i got bigger faster and didn't get any excess fat. Go to ronniecolman.com and the first thing you'll see is a huge picture with him eating a big piece of pizza. Pizza's great and anyone wantin to add strength and mass should be eating it.

pizza....breakfast of champions.

Im trying to get a sponsership from the local pizza shop.
If i sell out maybe kentucky fried chicken...but i am afraid the hormones in the chickens will show up in the drug tests

I will always include a pizza on saturday after my deadlift/squat training.
