What I do certain lifts in the gym my back starts to flare up. It's like an inflammation issue. Do you think it's my technique when I lift weights or do you think it has more to do with an existing injury that is flaring up. It happens mostly when I do squats and deadlifts
Hard to say without seeing your form but if it only bothers you when training it leads me to believe it could be some type of injury. Just take some time off.
