B Fold's Results. (LONG POST)

Night Fly

Okay...this is really hard for me to do...but he asked me to do this...and I don't mind at all. I really am speechless as to what to say...so please bare with me.

First of all...His final placing was 4th in his weight class. We still don't know how he finished overall...so I will let everyone know as soon as I find out. After the first event he was 1st overall. After the second event he was still first overall. After the third event he was second overall. After the fourth event he was 3rd in his weight class (not sure about overall), and after the fifth event he finished with 4th in his weight class.

Second of all...He could have not done a better job. He was AMAZING!!! He has more guts and more determination than every competitor out there. I have seen him compete in another competition and didn't think he could possibly have given more...but he did. He gave EVERYTHING he had at this contest. I am SO PROUD of him! :) to you...

Third...well...the reason this is hard for me is because he doesn't want to post yet. He feels that because everyone helped him out with money and sponsorship...that he let everyone down. He didn't get the pro card like he had set out to do...but I told him that shouldn't matter. He did this for himself...and no one else. BUT...everyone knows what a stand up guy he is and that it would be impossible for him to think that he didn't let everyone down.

The scoop on the contest is that after the deadlift event...he wasn't himself. He puked after that event. He then did the carry and drag...and did well I might add...but still wasn't himself. After the clean and press...well...he almost blacked out. His face was as white as a ghost and he couldn't breathe. He practically fell on the ground in front of everyone. He couldn't hear everyone talking to him. I was trying to get him to drink some Pedialyte, but he was about to puke again. We laid him on the ground and one of the other competitors gave him some oxygen from their portable oxygen tank. Another guy called the ambulance from his cell phone. Bill Holland (founder of NASS) broke an ammonia capsule so that he could sniff that...which almost made him sick again. The paramedics took his BP which was 90/40 or something like that...his blood sugar was 50 and his pulse was over 180. He was definitely sick.

It took a good 45 minutes for him to recover and he still didnt' recover fully. Everyone was trying to get him to go to the ER, but he wouldn't have it. He finally got most of his breath back and his color looked better. He went out and did the last event (Conan's Wheel) and then went back to the sidelines and proceeded to get a 10g needle stuck in his arm so he could get some fluids in him. I was really worried about him as was everyone else there. He doesn't even remember doing the last two events...and only remembers bits and pieces of the time after that. He never fully recovered from it...he still hasn't, btw. He is short of breath and constantly feels like he can't breath. I told him that he better go to the doc tomorrow...because something is wrong.

Aside from all of that...at the awards banquet...he DID get an award. Maybe not a trophy...or that pro card that he so greatly wanted...but IMO he got one that should mean WAY more to him than any trophy or pro card would. He got the James Littlejohn award. This award was started because another competitors brother died from cancer...and his brother wanted to give something back to strongman. This was the 110% award. The award that showed that he NEVER gave up. It was wonderful..and I felt tears running down my cheeks when he walked up to recieve it.

He should be VERY proud of what he accomplished yesterday...and in NO WAY should he think that he let everyone down. He went out there and gave his best and that is all that he should expect from himself.

I know that I appreciate every single on of you on this board because you have all befriended him...and he is so greatful. I wish that you all could hear him talk about everyone on here! He really truly loves you all...and I thank you for showing him your support and for letting him know how much you all care. I know he is reading this...so...please...everyone continue to give him the support and congrats that he SO well DESERVES!!!!!!!!

I love you, Clint.

my hat is off to you clint, u are and always will be an inspiration to me in my training, u gave all u could and more, way to go bro! U let noone down im sure everyone agrees with me when i say we are proud of all that u have achieved and hope that u continue to strive for more :)

Bfold, you are a true warrior bro. We are all pleased with your performance. By going out there and trying to compete when your body wanted to quit, you did more then beat the competetion, you defeated pain and your body which something to be proud of. Good job man!! I am damn proud of you.

just think, when he comes back, he will be 110% stronger. clint, those videos were badass and it's awesome you did what you did, considering how you felt. get well soon so you can train!

nightfly, thanks for the post on clint's behalf. now, go make him feel better! :D

I can't imagine not having met Clint and not having had the opportunity to train with him this semester at school. Clint, you are an inspiration to me, as well as to many others. You make me train harder and go that extra mile, just like you push yourself to do. You are an excellent competitor, and an excellent person, and you are well on your way to the top of your sport.

if i had HALF the determination and discipline you do i would consider myself lucky... you are truly inspirationl and amazing and on of the most humble persons i have ever met.

You are an inspiration to me as well Clint! I allways read all your posts and Hope one day to be as big and strong as you. Your guts and determination blow my mind, and your willingness to help people out shows your a dam good person! I hope you get better soon, and there is all ways next year.

there are things you set out to get, and there are things you get in the process fo seeking your ultimate goal. to be honored with being recognized as giving 110% is showing how much heart you have. a pro card shows some proficiency, but an award such as that you recieved will show longevity. you have the drive to make it in this sport, its just a matter of time. being sick and still performing so well is an accomplishment in and of itself. even those on their best day could only hope to be placing as well as you did. dont ever feel you let anyone down or disappointed anyone. that is hardly the case, rather the opposite, inspiration is more the result of this event.

rest up, eat well, search deep and find what you truly love about your sport. passion alone is all you need for this sport, pressure wont help. forget about sponsors, appreciate friends and enjoy the sport (as you already do) and your next event even more phenomenal. (if thats possible)

take some time off to let your system get back to normal. but know that you have the admiration and respect of this board more than you can know.

peace.

Let us down?

Are you nuts?!!!!!

You went out there and busted your ass to do something that you have always wanted to do. That is something to be proud of!!!

As for us giving you money, that was the easy part. You were the one who put in the blood, sweat, and tears to get this far.

Everyone on here that knows you, is proud of you and what you accomplished. We helped because we believe in you. No matter what the outcome of the event, you are a winner!!!!!

attention Night Fly

Make sure when you talk to him or his family that they check his CK levels. I had a contest in May in Canada and had an almost exact situation happen to me. It turned out my kidney's had failed and I was in serious trouble for a few days.

BFOLD You are a true warrior! Congrats on your perfromance. Truley amazing!

let us down- NO WAY!!! Coucldn't be any more proud of ya B. You gave it your all, and it showed, but through the pain you kept on going now that is inspiration.... Get well Soon..

Great post NF. I am in awe as to what Clint went through and his determination to compete.

I think that between bignate's post and the words big4life posted pretty much sum up everybody's feelings about you Clint. I don't think you let anybody down. I watched the videos that TheProject posted and what I saw was strength and determintion coming from you. What more could anybody else want from you?

Get well and get ready and good luck for the next competition.

I'm almost at a loss for words.

I'm very, very proud of what you did Clint! Hold you head high with honor and pride you are a inspiration.

Remember, WSM competitors usually peak in ther thirties! You still have lots of career ahead of you.

Take care of that back and heal up!

Let us down? HA!

He went and did his best and had a great time! He also learned from the experience! All of the above makes me happy!

C, Great job my sweet southern pal. I'm PROUD of you no matter where you placed in this event.

I'll sponser you in the next event too!I know you have FIRE AND DESIRE TO KEEP GOING FOR YOUR DREAM!

Clint,

You left it all out on the battlefield. No one can ask anymore of you.

I am proud of you, man.

Good work

Zen

Night Fly, I'm glad you posted the results. :)

It was my pleasure to be there and watch the big man compete, and I told him the same thing many of you have said...that there's no way he let anyone down out there. He gave everything he had, no doubt.

dude, i'm not gonna lie and say i sponsored you (i simply don't have the money), but you sure as hell didn't let anyone down let me tell you. i always take the time to look at those awesome videos and pics you post (i especially liked the martial arts videos-ACHOOO), in fact it was you (well you and needsize) that made me wanna deadlift- best decision i've ever made in my weightlifting 'career' of 6 years. so chin up, and next time you'll dominate that competition!

I can't speak for everyone, but I think many would agree with me:
those of us that support you with good wishes, prayers (for those that do such things), and/or money - we aren't looking for you to win - we are just looking for you to live your dream. to compete your best and get to the level that you can.

I'm proud as hell to know you and I hope that I can help you out in any way in the future. I wish I could have been there.

for now though - get rest and resolve whatever health issues you might have.

be good man - we are all rooting for you :D

bfold is the man no matter what

even if he came in DEAD last... he is still the man

Clint, you gave it your all! :)

I always enjoy reading about your training, seeing your pics and videos, and everything else that you devote 110+% to...and Night Fly's, too. Continue doing what you're doing and come back 10 times fiercer. I will always root for you no matter what the scores - you're destined to succeed.

Take care of yourself and heal!! :D

I couldn't have said it better myself. If you had come in dead last I would have considered it prayers and money well spent. The only way you could let me down woudl be to not come back here and share with us your knowlege and determination. As for a pro card...if not this time then next time and if not next time then the time after that.

Please Bfold...if you love us all as much as you say that you do you will go to a doctor and get yourself taken care of. Please...

hey man get better kill it next time.
if i could sponsor you i would in a second.
thanks for all the help and motivation bro.

You made everyone proud B, way to represent!!!
It's a shame that things didnt turn out the way you had hoped, but you are still young and are no where near your peak. There's a pro card and much, much more in your future.....
Anyone who can push themselves that far and still keep going, it doesnt get any more hardcore than that!

Clint,

I just started to take interest in the game, and have leared a lot from your videos as well as the site links etc... that you've sent me...

I too hold numerous blackbelts, and have generally speaking the same genetics as you, and am just a year or two older, so I can relate...

I dunno man... for your to actually make it to this contest is amazing... I wish that I had learned about it earlier, as I would have sponsored you for sure... and to be quite frank, would have doubled the sponsorship in a heart beat had I known how you performed... strange? Well I would rather sponsor you more for the determination that you've shown, rather then how you've placed... I would rather sponsor someone with that kind of heart, that will go places in the game, rather then a win without the same determination...

I don't know, I don't speak for everyone here, and don't want to give you a mess of metaphorical mind masturbation... straight up... you did great, you performed great, and best of all, have helped at least one person (and obviously more) refuel there fire to get back to the gym...

Rest up, eat up, train hard, and get back at it!

BTW shoot me a line at the next one, so I can fire a little $$$ yer way...

Cheers!

S.

B, you did a hell of a job. I don't know of anyone, anywhere that has the heart and determination that you do. That 110% award is one hell of an honor. You should be a proud man. God knows all of us here are.

was it the deadlift

Was it the high rep deadlift that screwed up the rest of the contest? His face looks pale in those IV pictures. But awesome determination in finishing the contest.

Excellent job bfold, I know aswell as everyone else here enjoy watching your videos and seeing how you train. You (and everyone else) inspiried me in many ways to eat big, lift big, and be big. Thanks for all your help in everything, as everyone else said get some rest and heal up.

I know you're disappointed man and I'm disappointed for you, but no way disappointed in you. I'm proud of you. It sounds to my dumb ass like you gave it too much too soon, the fact that you finished the contest on the fumes in the tank and still got a good result is a heroic feat, you certainly deserve the 110% award.

You got nothing to be ashamed of bfold. Nobody WANTS to get sick. Take care of yourself, listen to you body and come back strong. Do I feel you let me down? Fuck no, and I still know I will be watching you on ESPN within the next few years.

JC

Great job Clint!

Just competing at that level is an accomplishment in itself; you should be proud of that. Winning the James Littlejohn award just proves how hardcore you are. Even when your body started to fail you kept going!

Get your ass on here and take your complements! You deserve every last one of them!

-Ingram

Great job Clint! you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever! you gave it your all and are an inspiration to everyone who is blessed with knowing you. take care of yourself, get better...

Incredible performance! Use the experience to build on for the future. You will get to where you want to be but you're going to have to suffer along the way. However, your reward will be well worth it, in the end.

I guess you did puke after the deadlift. That almost made me puke just by watching the clip. Who said anything was wrong w/ 4th. Good job bro.

ok, I have not even read the rest of your post yet....let me just say that the reason I donated was not because I thought he was a guaranteed winner....don't get me wrong, I hoped that he would win, but that was not the deciding factor. I did it cause of all that he's done for this board and because he seemed like a good person that needed some money to make his dreams come true. When he decides to compete again I will definitely help out again.

Clint,
Night Fly's post brought a tear to my eye.... I'm extremely impressed with you B. One day I hope to have the motivation and drive to push myself to the limits, like you have in this competition.
You are an amazing man, modest, caring, friendly yet physically tough as nails. I don't think anybody could ask for more in a person. You might not have placed first in the competition, but you've won 1st in everyones heart here on the training board.
Next year it will be yours.
Looking forward to your return in good health!
Ryan

B.... What can I say that everone else here hasn't already... We know how badly you wanted a win here..But you will always be a winner because of the pure dedication you have... And we all know you will only come back even stronger and better prepared next time... And I'm sure I speak for many here when I say I will jump at the chance to help you out when your next competition comes around...

That post brought tears to my eyes. B Fold, your one of the most dedicated and motivated guys I know. The drive you showed to continue is nothing less than impressive. You are a true warrior. I wasn't able to send you money for this competition, but I prayed for you on numerous times and will pray for your recovery. If I'm able, I will support you in your training and in your competitions.

Big man, you were 1st overall until your health started to fail. It had nothing to do with your will, heart, or desire!!!!! I know you believe in God, so maybe this was a way for God to teach you something. Maybe this will light a fire inside you that will burn for many years to come.

Your a true champion!!!!

After the first event he was 1st overall. After the second event he was still first overall.

That means he beat EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED in competition in the Deadlift and another exercise?

So it wasn't for his lack of strength or his lack of preparedness, it is just that his body could not handle the intensity. If he was able to beat everyone in these 2 events, imagine the possibilities that he will have in the future. Don't give up, keep training, there will be a next time!

unbelievable. your determination is unreal. doesnt get any more hardcore than that. you've lit a fire under my ass. if i had to name one person as my role model, it would definately be you. good job

He got first in the yoke and tire flip medley which was the first event...and then he got second in the deadlift for reps (16 reps). Because he had scored so well on the first event...that put him in first even after getting second on the second event.

They ran the contest in 2 hours and 45 minutes which is unreal for 42 competitors and 5 events. Yes....the contest went fast...but with the weights and the types of events, they should have allowed more rest time in between events. Clint and I both thought that had he had more time to rest....this probably wouldn't have happened...but you never know.

He did awesome either way. :)

Like I told Clint last night, none of us care where he placed or if he even placed. He went out there and gave it his all. HE put his heart and soul into that contest. His determination to finish totally wows me. That man is truly one of a kind. It doesn't matter where he placed. He gave it his all, literally. No one can ask for anything more than the best. I know I speak for everyone of Elite when I say that we couldn't be any prouder of him than we are right now. He did a hell of a job.

Way to go Clint. the only thing that shlould matter is that you are that much closer to that pro card. this is just a stepping stone. as far as letting us down, psshaw! no matter what you have placed, you did awesome. Congratulations. now rest up and gear up for the next one. one down, many more to go. soon, I will see you on TNN sporting a met-rx shirt

The scary part of all of this is that Btrue is what, 24? 25 years old? Just a pup in other words. He'll own that contest in time.

You've got balls as big as churchbells bro.....GREAT JOB!!!

I really do not know what all to say to everyone on here. I really do not.

Night Fly: Thank you so much for you post. You said what I would like to say...perfectly. Meant so much to me for you to be there (and to see you cheering for me in the pics).

naturally anabolic: Thank you my friend.

IR0N.: Thanks. I have always said that a Champion was someone who won even when they should not have. They go against all odds to come back and win...

rippedtrojan: Thank you...I hope to come back 110% and then some. It will just take me a little time to figure out what exactly went wrong...

bearrito: It is an honor to have met you also. YOU motivate me more than you think...500 dead is just around the corner for you...if you REALLY want it.

starfish: Thank you girl...means a lot.

saint808: Thanks man...appreciate it very much.

Aussie Juga naught: Thanks...remember that strength and size comes from within...always. Big is only just a thought...just like strength. It all comes from within. Somewhere there is a 120 pound kid who is destined to be huge and strong...because it is really inside of them. If you want that...YOU can have it too.

bignate73: Thank you for the kind words. From you...that means a lot.

CoolColJ: Thank you man...as always I'll be needing your help and ideas.

HumorMe: Thank you...for many many things.

CrimsonKing: Thank you for the words and the pics...

vixenbabe: Thank you G...

TheProject: Thanks man...wish I could have spent more time with you...

Thanks to you C! You are obviously a very rare gentleman. People of your caliber are hard to come by. I'm just glad to be considered a friend although we have never met but will sometime. Let me know when you need something and if I can, I will help.

Congrats on a great achievement. You obviously gave more than you had to give. No one can ask anymore of themselves. Win lose or draw, to be voted for an award by your fellow competitors and peers is the highest of honours.

Outstanding job, B-Fold!

I am honored and priviledged to know you (albeit via the internet) and to have been given the opportunity to help support your dream. I will gladly do it again. Great job!!

Its not about winning, its about going out there and giving it your all, sounds to me you did way more then that, took a step farther then pretty much anyone would in the same situation, pushed yourself to the brink, is that something to be proud of? I sure as hell think so, you will only come out of this stronger my friend, and next time you will nail it (just don't over do it too much ya big lug, world would be a wrse place without you in it) Chin up and smile, be proud

Clint, when I first started reading threads and post on this board, yours was one of the first I came across. To make a long story short it was you who inspired me to bodybuild(eventhough thats not what you do). You have inspired many people on these boards, your pics and vids are awsome.

When I started reading these boards I was a senior in highschool. Weighed in at about 145. I now weigh around 252. My entire body has changed as a result of my training. like I said, you inspired me dude. Dont change a thing.

b-fold, I have nothing but admiration for you. You busted your ass and gave it your all, and still did great despite the troubles you experienced. Thats something to be very proud of. You're the man.

competition is the essence of sports

as proven by the award you are a true sportsman

you will probably realize this years from now but your not only building strength when you train and compete but also a tremendous amount of character.

not doubt you will go far in life

personal, playing sports at a high level as a youth/adult has helped me a lot in the corporate world. you compete even in a 9 to 5 and my motto is bring it on!

best of luck next time

Sean34

I appreciate all of you...honestly. All of this just kinda takes my breath away and I do not know what to say at all...

I hope that someday I can repay each of you for your kind words and help...

I'm sorry b, I've been out of town, otherwise I would have responded to this sooner.

What Night Fly wrote gave me the chills.

Yet again your heart inspires me to no end. There is no stopping you is there?:) I truly wish I was able to be there to see that. This is yet ANOTHER b-fold story I will take to the gym with me to share with my buddies. Do you have any idea how many people you have touched from simply sharing yourself on these boards?

You're the man my friend, continue your path and inspire the world

it's stories like these that keep me from being lazy and skipping leg or back day. the extent to which b fold pushes himself is more than inspiration to me -- it's a burning force.

that super yoke thing looks brutal. how much weight is one of those things?

That was 700 pounds on their yoke...50'. I think it only took about 6-8 seconds though...it is one of my better events.

B True

yikes. nice av, by the way. do you feel being leaner helps in your events? i see that some of those guys....aren't so lean

Well...the winner had veins running through his quads (although I did too) and most of the other guys weren't so lean. Just train and don't worry about what you look like. As long as you continue to get stronger, faster, and better at the events...it really doesn't matter what you look like.
