Anyone with Acne Problems Read This!

PRO-ACTIVE.....it works. For years I've seen posts on this board of people with acne problems, and I see people mention everything from vitamin B-5 to the new favorite "Acutane." Acutane is a harsh treatment, usually prescribed for people with major acne problems. Good thing some of you guys aren't doctors. I don't think I've ever once seen anyone mention Pro Active on this board. The shit literally changed my freakin life. NOTHING else has come close. At my age, I shouldn't be breaking out at all, but I think we all know why it's still happening. Just thought I would mention this, since it seems nobody is going to. Keep it simple guys. So many GD extremists on this board.

I'm glad it worked for you but it did nothing for me. I tried it, B-5 at rediculous amounts, tanning bed, and topicals. Went to my derm and tried tetracycline, minocycline, dynacin, septra, all to no avail. Accutane worked like nothing else. You're right though, people w/ acne should try other alternatives before jumping on accutane. But man does that stuff work.

Thanks for the info dear Watson, I have a touch myself at 47, I just try and keep my face clean and use OTC products. Nice to know that if it persists, there's something else to try.

accutane is the shit.... but its harsh. I took it 10 years ago when I was 12, lol had to get blood work done every month. But it's the the answer if you have bad acne. I didn't see a pimple again till I did my first cycle a few months ago.

Accutane is about the only thing that worked for a few clients of mine - they had bad acne. IMO, proper face care should take care of a lot of skin issues.

If the problem is from overactivity of the sebacious glands from excess androgens, skin cleanliness will do little good...

:cow:

I get bacne, and never use a chemical to clear it. I just go to the beach, get a good sun burn, you know when you get red and your skin peel off a week later, and at the same time the backne dissapear. Works for me. Goes away and never come back. Well, until next cycle.. :)

Pro-active worked great for me too bro, but now my shoulders are starting to break out and I'm gonna find out what it can do for that.

What would you suggest if that's the case? Anything natural?

I'm aware of the effectiveness of accutane, but not of it's specific mechanism of action.

I don't know what you mean by "natural".

Natural meaning some kind of plant ect...Oh and does DHT have anything to do with this.

I don't know of anything natural.

DHT has been linked to acne, so it could very well be part of the equation.

I always leave comments in the acne posts because i have delt with it all through my teenage and adult life.
Everytime i give my props to Pro Active, great stuff and was only thing that worked for me without having to subject myself to Acetane.

Pimples are caused by dead skin cells blocking the sebactose pores, the excessive amount of sebarm under the plug in the blocked pore allows bacteria to multiply and infect the pore.

one major key point to gettin rid of pimples is to exfoliatewith a rasp of some sort more than once a day to get rid of dead skin before it blocks your pores.

Just trying to get some good info for my upcoming summer go around. Prop/NPP/T-bol trying to stay acne free and keep my hair. I'm thinking about trying out procerin. Ever heard of it and if it's good at blocking DHT will that inhibit my gains at all? Sorry for so many questions as I'm kind of a newb and all.

my wife used it with so/so results she has/had adult acne being 38 only thing that stopped it was when she stopped smoking imagine that .

For some people, acutane may be the only thing that will work, but before you go down that road, at least give proactive a try! As for over the counter face wash, it's the best IMO.

i was given a script for accutane. I went in the drs office and told her straight up. I've used EVERYTHING! doxycycline,retin-A,acid face wash. She asked "have you tried accutane" from there the rest is history. i would only use it as a LAST RESORT! Try washing your face 2-3 times a day. use q-tip swab with alcohol. That worked 2nd best to accutane. if you run accutane start at 20-30mg, thats the dose she started me out at. expect results 4-5 weeks. expect dry lips, dry eyes, dry nose(nose bleeds).

what about bacne? what works for that?

minocycline. my doctor prescribed it to me. 1 tab a day for 28 days i noticed a difference after 14 days my acne has cleared up now thank god
