Anyone obese browsing?

Hey, I just signed up as a platinum member today! I've used Elitefitness to help me lose over 50 lbs. However, this past year I've fallen off my diet/exercise and gained that back and struggling with getting it off. I'm now about 300 lbs. again and feeling like complete crap.

I joined as a platinum member today because I feel I need help and would love to use the knowledge gained in these boards in aiding in my health. I am curious to know if anyone else checking out this post is obese and in need of help too. Maybe we could do a Body For Life challenge together (12 weeks) or something as motivation.

My question for others: how can I start? Anyone have any ideas for an obese guy like me with weight lifting knowledge just getting back into the routine? I bought myself a bench press and some dumbells. I am able to perform strength training exercises. I also like to run/walk when the weather is right (here in MN winters). I really need help with food... man college life is hard (Beer, wings, and pizza...ugh.)

Just looking for feedback... I am to a point of breakdown because of my health and weight.

Thanks,
Obi

I fall into the "others" category, so here's some stuff that should help.

I don't agree with all of John Berardi's nutritional advice, but the link below is a very good basic outline of good nutrition and eating habits. The next two are lists of foods to help you get started putting together a diet.

This thread from a few days ago should also provide some good information:

Thanks man, this will help me get started some. I can't wait to get going and be healthy again. Made me feel great.

Check out the women's forum and read through some of the logs and scroll back a few pages and also read Bunny's log which isn't updated as often at the moment - there are some really great accomplishments there that are quite inspiring.

Best wishes Obi, you know we often fall off our path in life and even though you may not be were you want to be you haven't failed you've just lost direction temporarily so keep trying and talking, ask questions and reach out to people if you need someone to lean on.

Appreciate the welcoming. Lol, looks like the women forum has great details of their programs... I may have to post over there too!

Any suggestions which direction I should go for a diet? I've done Body for Life before, which was good... but has been difficult since college. Chicken breasts and veggies are awesome and I can cook them up all the time, although thats what I'm doing now but still doin bad with losing weight. Guess I need input on "good foods" that aren't a pain in the butt to have to whip up when I'm studyin.

Just looking for direction from anyone, then I may start one of them logs on the forum.

Thanks,
Obi

Im truly lazy when it comes to cooking food too so I try and find easy stuff.

I find some really easy stuff is:

Breakfast:
Oatmeal/eggs (I even use eggbeaters, yolk removed, vitamins added back in, pour on a plate 2 minutes in the microwave, voila, 6 egg whites).

9am: most of the time I try and throw a healthy snack in here, its usually pretty random with all the potlucks we have here at work its usually alot of veggies from a veggie tray.

Lunch:
Sub from subway, oven roasted chicken breast, no cheese, wheat bread all veggies, or chicken sandwiches from somewhere else no sauce added, or grilled chicken salads.

PWO:
Whey/Dex/Maltodexin shake

Dinner:
Combinations of lean chicken breasts, tuna, veggies etc.... 5-10 minutes preperation time tops.

Before bed:
Cottage Cheese and Tuna, 2 minutes

This is definitely not the BEST diet you will find here on EF but it is VERY quick and very unintrusive. Ive dropped 70lb since last december doing this, throwing in snacks here and there, going to the gym 4 times a week, and taking lots of supplements from afstore (thermorexin, sesapure, glucorell).
