Anyway I'm a little confused on which format to buy.

What's the best media for it?? DVD+R, DVD-R , etc,etc

Not sure which is better for it but DVD-R seems to be cheaper than DVD+R. I haven't heard anyone strongly say one is better than the other so I'd go with what's cheaper. Both DVD-R and DVD+R work in about 85% on the DVD players out there. DVD-RW and DVD+RW work in less.

Yeah avoid DVD-Ram. About the only thing that will play in is a DVD-Ram drive.
