Anyone ever made sushi at home?

this isn't going to help much but you'd probably have to go to a place where you live that has a high asian population. Also maybe try any Whole Foods supermarkets, they might have what you need. But the tuna you can get anywhere.

yeah, MN has a giant population of asian americans as well as a ginormous population of asian immigrants, they are actually all over,

fyi, I was just being stupid asking if anyone knew a market by me, becuase obviously they wouldnt, guess that one went over your head mang

Just make sure you get sushi grade fish from the market, luckily I have a chef in town that orders it for me. Wasabi can be found in almost every grocery store now a days. The key is in the rice.... Buy a good quality rice like Nishiki then sugar, rice vinegar and wooden rice spoon, the wood will help soak up extra moisture. Fold the rice so you don't crush the grains and take the time to fan it. Makes all the difference in the world. An asian market is a good bet for more exotic items like eel if you like or a good quality snapper or sea bass. If you like the eel the sweet soy is a pain to make but well worth it as is the ponzu.

Here is a link to buy some decent sushi grade fish...

Have fun... I am going to have to head to get some sushi now.

i made it with avacado, smoked salmon(lox) special rice, seweed and used a wrapper thing...

its pretty good but not as good as in a restourant. agoood experiment if you have the time to cook it- it takes like 30 minutes+ to roll and cut etc depending on ho wmuch u have

I tried it once, it didn't turn out as planned. After it was completed, it looked like I had a burrito run over by a truck.
