Anyone ever get their lip pierced??

Did it hurt? How long did/does it take to heal?

This is for my step-daughter, she wants to get it done. She'll be 18 this month....

Well, she's spoiled (IMO) & immature (IMO), but I wouldn't say she's prissy....

Where does she want it? Right in the middle or off to one side?

I use to want a madonna piercing. It's off to either the left or right side on the area above your upper lip. I never got it because I couldn't have that at work. Thank goodness I got over wanting that.

IMO facial piercings aren't attractive on males or females.

I think some piercings are attractive on women, it really depends on the woman though.

Piercings alone don't determine whether I date a woman or not.

a ring on the lip is the dumbest thing going. I looks like you went fishing with your friends and a hook got caught in you lip. Stupid mistake
 
I did not get my lip pierced so i don't know. Technically i should not even be on this thread but i looked at it and said screw it, since i don't have an avatar i'll either be ignored or talked or typed as the case might be down to. :(

I just think facial piercings take away from a person's beauty. I typed oral in my previous post when I meant facial.

I don't hate piercings. I have many myself.

yikes, i hate facial piercings.
i've had my belly button pierced and once below the belt:mix: , but i don't have either anymore.

Yes.

Sugarplum, you don't seem like the type to have piercings (other than ears). They are too much of a novelty to you and they don't really serve any purpose or meaning for you.

She'll be 18 in a few weeks........... no one can tell you anything when you're that age..... Anyway, what's a convincing argument? It's ugly -- she knows what I think & doesn't care....she asked her boss if they would mind, they said fine, as long as she wears a 1/2 mask.....

I can't think of any reason not to

This is p0ink's roomate again. Lip piercings look cool (I think), but they don't always heal very well. If you go with a ring it's really hard to heal, because every time the ring flops over it rips the healed tissue. Barbells are better, but you can't usually have one in your lip because of your teeth. My mom cried when I got my labret done, because it 'ruined' my face, so I took it out. You can always guilt her into taking it out.
 
i have my lip peirced and my nipples and tongue none of which hurt- although devastation isnt fond of my lip peircing at all so i dont wear it when he is home



honestly it is better to get than tattoos because they are permanent

the lip takes awhile to heal before you can take it out and leave it out for more than an hour ; lip peircings easily close fast if you leave it out for more than so long- this being an item the peircer doesnt tell you about.

in my opinion the belly button hurts worse than your lip getting done
it is a shock at first

i had my lip and both nipples peirced in the same sitting lip first.

I went to a club once (Industrial) and I saw this real attractive chick, pale skin, brown eyes, dark hair, bangin' body......the only thing was she had a fucking barbell through her nostrils...it looked like a bull ring or some shit. This type of thing is popular in the Industrial crowd, but it made her looks so butch..

doesn't hurt at all but does take a while to heal, mine took about 2 months to heal completely. no smoking or drinking for a while especially smoking.
 
i just don't know why anybody would want a facial piercing. i think they're so ugly. it looks like you got your face mangled up with a tackle box.
seriously, what is the point of them? pretty gay i think
 
I don't have a lip piercing, so I can't really contribute any personal experiences, but tell her to check out BMEzine - http://www.bmezine.com - if she wants to read some people's personal experiences with their lip piercings. She can probably find people's experiences with various piercing places in your area as well.... it's a pretty helpful site when you're getting a new piercing :)

I saw someone get their lip pierced. He had braces, and got a right cross to the mouth. Metal went through the face. Looked like it hurt...

Well, she doesn't smoke or drink alcohol. So that's not a problem. She needs to get her wisdom teeth out in Jan. so that was what she was concerned about re: healing. Whether she would need to take it out for the surgery or not....

Thanks for the link....I'll pass it on.....however, she said she wanted more "real world" experiences as the piercing sites tend to not tell you everything.....
 
it should only take 4-6 weeks to heal. get her to use soft lense contact solution if she has problems with it healing, as some lotions tend to dry out the pierced area.
i have an 8mm stretched labret peircing which has never givien me any problem and i've had it for 8 years. just make sure after the healing period is over, a smaller length stud is put in, with a fairly large back to it, so it wont try and sink into the flesh of the lip. again, bmezine is probabaly the best place to look for advice.
very rarely will it not take, but everyone is different.
body piercing/tattos/bodybuilding...different approaches to modifying ones body...

the doctor would probably tell her to wait to get it after the surgery otherwise infection could move from one site to the other.
they made my girlfriend take her peircing out for her surgery so she had to get it repierced which hurts a little more the second time around; she has the same peircing your girl wants.
i drank and smoked when i first got mine peirced luckily nothing happened but i still wouldnt just in case.
im rebelious and dont like being told what to do.

I have had it twice, it was fun when i was young, didnt hurt to bad.
