I work days and nights and find it a struggle at times to stay focused on my routine. 12 hour shifts don't help either on those days.. can anyone relate? Any tips?

I work 12 hour shifts but they are all day shift. I can't imagine having to flip flop from days to nights and all. The 12 hour shifts during the day alone wreck havoc on everything! Just make sure to be organized, plan ahead, and have balance with training, diet, SLEEP..

I work nights, 7 days a week. Its hard to get a routine going when appointments and friends/fam need things during the day. Workout schedule varies too.

I don't have to do that anymore right now, but last year I was back and forth with days and nights. It helped to be really disciplined about sleep, nutrition and exercise. That being said, it's a difficult lifestyle to maintain and my health/fitness took a definite hit. I'm so glad I don't have to do it anymore.

Is there any way you can get it so that you have a week at a time of one thing or another or are you in a rotating call?

I sure do 4 on 4 off rotating 12 hour shifts. With overtime so high its usually 6 on 2 off. One thing that helps me stay on track and have focus is Redline by VPX. They are great for energy and really help me a lot!! Also they are 0 everything!!! It is very hard to balance everything and some days you still can fall short. Just remember sleep as much as possible, take your favorite thing for recovery, and keep your diet good. Good luck!!

I find the worst part of working flipped shifts like that is maintaining a solid diet. Missing meals or eating at the wrong times or just eating poorly. It can be tough to get proper rest too. I got in the habit of just working out before my shift, whether it's getting up at 4am to beat my dayshift or 6pm before a nighthshift. Then my body and mind are in sync whether it's days or nights

Yeah... I don't miss the days of doing that regularly. I'm on this Fri and Sat and will have to squeeze some lifts and cardio in even earlier than usual.

Blech. I find having a really clear plan helps and being prepared ahead of time (not leaving getting food stuff to chance) imperative. Also, I bring something fun that isn't food with me... Like a trashy book or magazine so when I need a break/need to bend the rules a little I'm not doing it with my diet.
