dead-lifts?

I'm scraped and bruised from my knee's down. Happens every time I DL. My shins take the worst of it.

Oh yeah. I got some knee length soccer socks from Wal-mart to help protect my shins. They work pretty good. I've also seen people that wear shin guards or have put a strip of duct tape up their shins. I also used to put duct tape around the part of the bar that drags up my shins.

Or, you can just have a cool story to tell when someone asks what happened to your shins! :)

i have a friend with longer legs and he has to scrape the bar along his legs to ensure good form and make sure its not all lower back.

I don't even think about it any more. I scrape my shin every time I dead.

I used to have one pair of socks I always wore on dead day. That way I'd only drip blood on one pair and not ruin any others.

I just use a pair of tube socks that go right below my knees, minimized scraping and left only bruses on my knees...

My gym has a pad that velcro's around the bar for doing squats and stuff. I use it on deads too to keep my shins from getting bruised or scraped. It rolls on the bar so it works great.

It doesnt do anything to my shins now.

My shins never get scraped anymore.

About a year ago I changed my deadlift form A LOT, and ever since then I haven't scraped my shins in the least.

I think I read Dave Tate's 'Dead Zone' article at T-mag to inspire those changes, and immediately was stronger in the deadlift.

All I know is my shins are fine these days :).
