Is there one perticular type of cardio that is more muscle sparing than any other? For instance, is an exercise bike more muscle sparing than say jogging? What about walking? Wouldnt that be very muscle sparing?
Ideally to burn fat you want to keep you max heart rate somewhere around 60 to 65 % anything higher than that is not effective for burning fat. I would say no way to the running or anything to intense. I used to be a trainer for a living and walking or the exercise bike seems to be the best for sparing muscle. keep the intensity low. I play a lot of basketball at times during the year and it always kills my lifting. I would definately stay away from running of any kind unless you are training for a sport.
